Who will Tom Segal go for? He generally doesn't go for a horse any less than 6/1 but how can he oppose the big four of Binocular, Hurricane Fly, Peddlers Cross & Menorah? Surely he has to go for one of them??? Any if he doesn't, then Dunguib can be the only horse at a double figure price worth any consideration at all but I don't know if Tom is a fan of the horse. Altho I see Mille Chief being cut across the board this evening.
It's certainly food for thought ahead of tomorrow morning Happy

He's said he likes to base his selections on what has most potential to shorten. He's also stuck in terms of his timing, i.e. he presumably has to preview the races when his editor wants, not when the best bets may be available.

I'd guess, based on price and Festival form, he'll go for Khyber Kim or Walkon e/w.

Mille Chief is no doubt going to be the selection.
However he was talking it up at 28s to some extent in the Weekender a few weeks ago, so it seems foolhardy that he will now recommend it at a much shorter price of 20s (Stan James, 365 and Totesport at the moment).

Khyber Kim? i don't personally fancy him and he could go down world hurdle path but given he has a excellent record at cheltenham was second in the race last year and disappointed when the stable were/are out of form totally and a case could be made for him at big odds

well imo dunguib is hard to sum up, only one run since supreme novices, were a race which it should of won, only beaten 2 lengths when seemingly running the long way round and given way to much to do, the next time out was fav at punch, ahead of H fly and others finshed 6 th and ground that maybe was to quick, i just think dunguibs nly gonna getting shorter in price once get another run under his belt early feb

im biased and think silviniaco conti will come in loads on the day, being nicholls only runner and will look much better in paddock than before bula. think he''ll go mille chief as price has collapsed today

I'd think Ruby will be on Sil Conti too so that will help the cash come for him.

I've a feeling he will go with Dunguib. He's mentioned him a couple of times in his weekender collumn throughout the season.

I think Towned will keep the ride on Hurricane Fly, he alluded to it in his post race interview yesterday.

Probably Mille Chief based on price move and on how easily he won last time, but also agree Dunguib is very interesting. Bud - you are right in what you say about Oscar Whisky - a big price and was good the other day, so wouldn't be surprised if he goes off shorter on the day whether Pricewise tips him or not. Is he a definite runner though?

Just think it is interesting how Dunguib ran a good race at Cheltenham last year, and because many expected Pegasus to rock up and win by 20 lengths he was immediately dismissed by a lot of folk. Disappointed at Punchestown but that could conceivably be forgiven on quicker ground at the end of a season that began early enough for him. If he has improved at all he should not be 22-1. Can't be much at all between him and Menorah and would probably prefer the breakneck pace of the Champion than he got in the Supreme last year. Who knows, maybe they've even taught him to jump? Let's not forget the prep Sublimity had to win his Champion - would be similar to the path Dunguib must take, so at least we know it could be done.

Must admit, having written this, that I was a mug Dunguib backer last year, so probably clutching at straws a bit!
