Blimey, talk about toys out of the pram. Kauto is a great horse but time catches up with all of us and them. No point getting morbid about it. To be honest I was getting sick of listening and reading all the hype anyway. It's impossible for any horse to keep living up to it and it makes defeat seem all the harder to take. It was as if he just had to turn up to get 5 on the trot. The racing media machine pretends it's all about individual people (McCoy) and horses (Kauto Star), as they are easier to market. I think all they are succeeding in doing is turning off folk who love and understand the sport.

CV - not sure why you are uptight. Kauto was not going to keep winning forever. He got round in one piece. he got beaten by a new upcoming horse. Horse racing for me is about finding new stars as well as acknowledging old stars. If Kauto had been injured I could understand your anger but truthfully Kauto Star lost a race that's all.
My post digging at Mayweather was prior to the KG anyway. As a final point I believe Kauto's defeat was mainly due to age and partly due to the form of the respective yards cos if Henderson had not had a runner Kauto would have five wins and would probably have won easily as his blunder two out was caused by being under pressure to close on Long Run. |

and as RP points out nicholls wins to runs ratio currently around 10% whereas was in 20-25% range when kauto won KG in other years so stable form clearly not so great - maybe Mayweather will use that as a point to highlight his genius is intact it is just the form of the stable which let him down
i dont think anyone is disrespectful to KS - he will always be one of the all-time greats. It's sad that we probably wont see him in his pomp again and I wont be backing him at Cheltenham but i'd never be happier to have a losing bet if he won the gold cup again |

On your advice, I sold my house and my car, cashed in my pension, and sold all my posessions. I put 25% of the total on Brampour for the Triumph Hurdle at 16/1, and I put the other 75% on Brampour to win on Saturday. Obviously the latter bet lost. Does he still win the Triumph? As you can imagine, I'm a little concerned that he failed to win a class 4 novice hurdle. Is he still a machine or will I be potless after March? I put enough aside to access internet in the internet cafe and live in a hostel until March. If Brampour doesn't win, I won't have a penny. What do I do now please? |

I think we can safely say that , should anyone have been taking this nut job seriously before this thread, they won't be now.
Quite a performance to put up two shorties with absolutely no rationale have them both get rolled and then to aftertime that in actual fact you'd backed something else. Its tempting to wonder what is missing in the psychological make up to make him seek attention and ridicule in such a way. They don't usually last long. |
