Punchestowns would be interesting if reverting to hurdles
By:
Given Punchestowns lack of experience over fences, think maybe the way to go back over hurdles, cause cant see him winning Gold Cup this year?
By:
atm,Mourad @14s looks not bad value.
By:
Grade one winner over hurdles and second in this race already he would be interesting though he may well stay over fences

Surprised nobody has mentioned grand crus, has similar profile to the last 2 2nds inthat he will be of chaseing next season.
If Oscar whisky is beaten when droping back to 2m nto I wonder if he would go World Hurdle this season? |

Ashkazar won over 3 miles with topweight on New years day at Cheltenham. Ridden patiently that day and with the same tactics could def run into a place IMO.
By:
to an extent I agree but I would worry that the front runners went to fast that day and set the race up for him. He may have visually been more impressive that day than the form reads.
By:
Everything else in the field is exposed at 3 miles, so think at the price Ashkazar is worth a chance at current Betfair odds. Bookies are a lot shorter.

Grand Crus 8-1 w/o Big Bucks may be my bet of the festival
By:
I like Any Given Day w/o Big Bucks at 10/1 with Carol's (only 11/2 with Billy Hills).
Not sure if he is a definite runner though because 64/1 on BF to win. Has ran really creditably this year against strong opposition and I think the step up to 3m will suit him. If he is near 10/1 w/o Big Bucks nearer March I might have a few quid on him |

From Donald McCain: "I have given Any Given Day an entry in the World Hurdle. He has had a very consistent season and been a little unlucky as his handicap mark has crept up 22lb.
"This leaves only a few options for Cheltenham and he will be running in the Rendlesham Hurdle at Haydock (February 16). "Provided he stays the full three miles there, he will then head for the World Hurdle - otherwise, it looks like he will be lumping top weight in a handicap at Cheltenham." |

Thanks a lot doogs, didn't see that quote Think I will definately have a few quid in him now because you can get 12/1 w/o Big Bucks with Sid James when is the same price with Blue Sq in the With Big Bucks market. |

Grand Crus for me, has to be bet e/w w/o BB on the day
By:
You're welcome WC, must have a great e/w chance & that 12's without BB at SJ's is a great price

I'm with Big Bucks on this one

For what its worth Ive had Any Given Day marked out as a horse to follow this season but it was firmly with the belief that he would excel over 2m4f and he has. Even though his last 2 runs indicate that he will stay further Im not sure that he will.
Though I will be happy to be proven wrong. |

By:
would grand crus need soft ground?
By:
I wouldnt think so, what you making of the Novice Chasers this season ftm I must admit im struggleing to get totally excited about anything.
By:
Really like the horse as well Abbott. Will be interesting to see if he stays the 3 miles when he runs at Haydock next month. The 25's e/w and 12's without BB won't be around for long if he does run well
By:
Agree re price doogs and hope he does stay. If he does he could well be the next time for rupert or punchestown and head to the RSA next season.

nothing standing out to me abbott.as you know we were both looking at ghizao early on but i was looking for pipey to send ronaldo/notus dlt chasing.i was expecting sanctuaire to figure..got those wrong!
i also thought arvika was going to be my arkle horse this season,so much for my opinion.. im keeping kilmurry on my side after what he did to ghizao, and hopefully back on better ground he can put his last run behind him.flat out made a decent impression on me,given his hurdling rating and made a nice shape over fences[still think arvika was their main hope].As usual i guess the winner will be one of the first4 in the betting, cant split ghizao/fr,i dont know whether its been the stop/start season which has been frustrating or if its substandard year for novices. Dont ask me about the rsa after last weekend.... whats your arkle thoughts? |

Zaynar been given a breathing operation since his last run which might make a big difference on form the only horse who could give BB a run for his money. Also Khyber King could be a danger if turning up looked like he could get the trip on his running at Aintree last year

By:
Think its been a stop start year which in result has seen a lot of horses not make the transition to fences. In result this years bunch may prove to be one of the worst for a while.
Im with you I would have been happy to be on Ghizao when we were talking about him at fancy prices but at current price he is way to short, Personally I think this season we may well see a shock, the ones at the front of the betting are really only there because they are the ones that have raced. Im hoping something thats yet to jump a fence come out in the next few weeks and shakes it up. The one I really have an eye on is Notus, Im going to contact Pipe about doing another phone interview at my Preview Night and when I do i'll see if there is any chance he might jump a fence after his seasonal debut. In the RSA i must be the only person that doesnt like Time For Rupert, Ive backed Wymott at 16s but only small. The one horse Im keeping an eye on and hoping dips under the radar is Micheal Flips. Upped to 3m on Sat he confirmed that he didnt stay but still ran well. His mark of 147 is only 1lb higher than his coral cup 4th but I have a feeling they may go for the old Jewson as his chase mark could well end up 10lbs below that. If they do ill be punting him. |
By:
i was at towcester for his 1st run and felt he wasnt off, jumped a bit sticky and wasnt beaten up.i was watching him on sat also.this new race could partly be the reason for the underwhelming feeling.
funny u should say that about the possibility of something thats never seen a fence yet ,we were only discussing that[me and you know who]a couple of weeks ago..i keep checking the entries as i was expecting a suprise[notus/ronaldo]but imo running outta time now. i think tfr could run in gold cup[not if he was m,ine]and ive nibbled definity at silly odds.wymott looks good but i noticed dm comments about poss running in the new race, surely hes a 3miler tho? i was all over peveril at 65s-35s,and had managed my position but the manner in which he lost his life last week gutted me,i hadnt been as gutted since we retired our horse. actually thats a lie...the defeat by newcastle earlier in the season wasnt good!the samaritans hung up on me after that result!! il have to review the rsa, cant have mdh tho and id have reservations about qe at chelt.i guess il wait till nearer the time and see if definty makes the grade. |

i know people are knocking ghizao ,his hurdles ratings etc,but im certain vpu managed to leave hurdles form behind.
on the positive spin, has jumped very well ,has winning chelt form over fences and improving with every run. gained experience while other trainers cant get runs into their horses,id say nicholls is laughing his head off. |
