Trouble is not sure on plans for him re Cheltenham,Supreme or Neptune??or maybe neither???
Any ideas anyone? 2m 2f today, not much clue there!!
Current prices for both races are around 35,possible value.Have had a little on both.

Backed this for supreme at 40s before his first run.  I wasnt too disheartened with that, as EOG said he was even more unfit than he thought, plus the form got franked yesterday. Also been nibbling at massive odds on here.  In his stable tour he compared him to his last winner of the supreme (name escapes me), altho i suppose its not unthinkable he would go neptune.  I thought he did it well enough today, was a bit sloppy at times, but the dawdle of a pace wouldnt have helped.

Back In Front [;)]

Did it well today, form suggests wants soft but not so sure that has been his problem when faced with it so could be an interesting punt. A fast run Surpeme would perhaps suit him as he can be a bit keen.
Report woodworm December 31, 2010 11:26 AM GMT
Had lost the Champion bumper after 3 furlongs! Pulled way to hard. Needs to settle. Would be slightly concerned the occasion might get him a bit buzzed up again.
All that said, a good price if he does settle!
Report buddeliea December 31, 2010 12:19 PM GMT
Yeh,thats my take on it.Settled ok yesterday, maybe the hurdles makes the difference?
Really think he may just have some class about him.
Report Albion Dan December 31, 2010 12:31 PM GMT
Looks like Backspin will be JP's for the Neptune also.
Report BraveInca2006. January 1, 2011 1:52 PM GMT
Soft ground is a must for this horse. A lovely individual but i could not see him winning any Grade 1 championship races on anything but soft.
Report buddeliea January 1, 2011 4:56 PM GMT
certainly his form suggests that, hopefully there will be enough juice in the ground for him.
Report Albion Dan January 6, 2011 5:19 PM GMT
I think he is worth a go on better ground as there were valid excuses for his 2 disappointing runs on them, and it may just be a coincidence that his 2 wins came on soft.  Also, EOG has never mentioned any ground dependencies in any comments I have heard.
Report Mayweather January 7, 2011 12:42 PM GMT
Yes, I put Shot From the Hip in one of my Ten To Follow lines. I remember Edward O'Grady saying the horse reminds him of Back In Frontand we all know how easily that horse won the Supreme Novices Hurdle. I am certain Shot From The Hip will be aimed towards the Supreme Novices Hurdle, whether he's good enough I am not sure but he's worth a small E/W punt at the current prices available. I am a big Zaidpour fan but I have this picture of Cue Card coming there cruising all over the whole field. His last run was better than it may have first looked. Also, Colin Tizzard said he didn't have the horse 100% right for that day.
Report CVByrne January 7, 2011 12:48 PM GMT
I've him backed at 110 for the neptune.
Report Mayweather January 7, 2011 1:04 PM GMT
CVByrne - that is a cracking price if he goes for it. I just got a feeling the horse is fairly explosive and would want a strongly run 2 miles. You can get a decent price for the Supreme so maybe worth a little on thatr race too? You just want a run at this stage though to be honest, like with most horses we have all backed.
Report CVByrne January 7, 2011 1:14 PM GMT
I think he needs further and will avoid cue card and Zaidpour.

I've a few dabbles at big prices for the neptune. Oscars Well being another one. I don't think bishopsfurz will go as he has no respect for hurdles and it may be best holding him for chasing next season.

Open race this
Report Mayweather January 7, 2011 1:47 PM GMT
I have a feeling that Court In Motion is a decent horse and will run a big race in the Albert Bartlett if it came up soft like it was last year when that race was run. My two biggest bets in March are/will be Big Bucks (World Hurdle) and Time For Rupert (RSA Chase).
Report Paul4 January 7, 2011 1:49 PM GMT
seem to remember emma lavelle and jack doyle marking this as their definite one to follow at the start of the season, should have a massive chance imo
Report Albion Dan January 7, 2011 2:26 PM GMT
SFTH better go supreme!!!
Report ben10 January 7, 2011 2:34 PM GMT
What else does McManus have for the Supreme? Backspin surely the Neptune horse so the others will fit round that perhaps.

CVByrne 07 Jan 11 14:35
"Well he has stayed on well in his last two races on soft/heavy over 19f and 18f.

He probably doesn't have the speed for the supreme and the presence of cue card and Zaidpour would also deter from the supreme."

Bit of a pointless argument between our pockets I think CV as we r both on 3 figure odds for the different races, I have just rewatched his bumper wins, and he appears to quicken away nicely in the second of them.  I think his problem has been settling, and the quick pace of the supreme would be perfect.

Ghizao, Master minded, big bucks,  Brampour. Then he's backed the favourites in the other races too, time for rupert, hurricane fly etc...

He's so inbred he cannot string a   coherent sentence together. Without doubt the most brainless teenager ever to use a computer.

albion dan...glad someone looked at the linkCool

as for shot from the hip he looked all over a chaser imo when he went down/came back in for the bumper at cheltenham so whatever he manages this year im seeing as a bonus as over fences i suspect he could be quite special.

was a comfortable win lto and sicialian secret/endless intrigue are both decent types, his next run will tell us lots more, for my money its just a good thing magnier isnt riding him now as there a re shall we say plenty better jockeys available and he didnt do the horse any favours in the cheltenham bumper.

Was supposed to run on Sunday, should still run in the rearranged race on Saturday at Leopardstown. Few in that race are neptune bound, Oscars Well, Old McDonald. I think Shot From the Hip is more likely to go for the Neptune if heading over. But who knows or sure really.
Report buddeliea February 8, 2011 7:38 AM GMT
Just had a bit on Old mcdonald for the AB!!

CV,how sure you about SFTH mate,as he is out to 80 on here.
If he is more likely, have to have another go.
Cant work out why the 2m and 3m race are half the price, weird.
Report buddeliea February 8, 2011 7:40 AM GMT
60 now for neptune, just had a bit on at 65.
Report CVByrne February 8, 2011 9:42 AM GMT
Could be more the level of competition in the neptune. I don't know I haven't heard anything. I'd  sit tight until after he runs on sat.

As for Old Macdonald my friends uncle owns and trains him, he really hasn't decided is he goes to chelts, he said the  doilette would help decide. I think the AB would be the race for him though. Glynn says he's the best horse he'll ever have.

Considering we're all on becauseicouldntsee for the  national it's worth taking note.

Anyway news on shot will come this weekend.
Report buddeliea February 8, 2011 12:06 PM GMT

traded out on most of neptune so hoping goes for supreme. think could be todays big winner at leopardstown
Report Albion Dan February 12, 2011 4:08 PM GMT
Thoughts on todays run? I think he travelled up quite nicely before tiring badly. Drop back to 2m, and better ground and he could still be a player in the supreme?!
Report buddeliea February 12, 2011 4:16 PM GMT
my feeling is they may well step him up to the AB over 3m.His breeding suggests that he could need further.
yes He did not get home, but maybe that was due to going quicker during the race, and the winner is bl00dy good
by the looks of it!!
He travelled well but lacked pace at the business end,gut feeling after watching that is he is a stayer.
If ground came up really soft then Neptune could be the race for him, decent ground i think now it will be AB.
Report rhinestone February 12, 2011 4:16 PM GMT
Yep travelled well Dan. Looks like the drop back to 2m would suit. Not sure he wants good ground though.
Report buddeliea February 12, 2011 4:26 PM GMT

should i go in for the AB,in case i am right??

antepost betting eh!!
Report Can't Catch Me February 12, 2011 6:04 PM GMT
Alot will depend on the rest of JP's runners, but having backed him in the Neptune myself, I was a bit disappointed.

I think I'd say the Supreme looks the best race after that.
Report ben10 February 13, 2011 1:42 AM GMT
Agree Supreme if anything, was impressed with the way he moved up to challenge. Reckon he was left a little short by his trainer myself, hence the way he ran, wasn't on course to back that up though. Still think the jury is out on the ground, needs to be given a proper chance to show that he doesn't go on it. Definitely Supreme though if they are worried about the ground.
Report Can't Catch Me February 13, 2011 1:45 AM GMT
The opposite Ben. Had him spot on for last weekend, and if anything did a bit much imo.
Report ben10 February 13, 2011 1:49 AM GMT
Not so sure, he was talking about the Supreme before he made his debut over hurdles. Given the owner obviously likes to target the festival I feel he must have left something off. If you compare his hurdles debut to this run they were quite similar.
Report Can't Catch Me February 13, 2011 1:51 AM GMT
Oh definitely. Sure he wont be at his peak until the middle of March. But think he may have run better last weekend than this. The rearranged fixtures must be really hard for trainers to deal with.

At the end of the day, I'd trust EOG to have him spot on for the main event Happy
Report ben10 February 13, 2011 1:56 AM GMT
Yeah it's not been easy for them this winter, have to run in them though to get them spot on for the main event!
Report Can't Catch Me February 13, 2011 1:58 AM GMT
Yep! I think antepost betting has been harder than ever as a result though. I think there will be alot of horses we havent seen the best of this season, who could come right at the Festival. Alot more questions marks and more of the unknown than previous years.

As if it wasnt hard enough already Plain
Report ben10 February 13, 2011 12:35 PM GMT
Certainly is, this new novice race is causing me all sorts of headaches too. Like Noble Prince for the Arkle but his owner's Dad owns Realt Dubh so they are going to take in the new race instead (which may suit more but I think he'd beat RD in the Arkle given the ground). Have now come round to Wishful Thinking for the new race but will they go for the RSA because of Captain Chris (and prestige) even though he hasn't really looked a 3 miler! Impossible to second guess connections Cry
Report Can't Catch Me February 13, 2011 2:22 PM GMT
Yeah I've done a few quid on Noble prince for the Arkle. Was my main AP bet Sad Think its the perfect race for him.

Had to get involved for the new race now and 8/1 seems decent enough.

Just been looking back at last years bumper ...given all the pre race hype Shot from the Hip was a huge disappointment ( as were the majority of the Irish talking horses to be fair) looks to have grown up a bit and provided he behaves himself could go well this year.
Anyone know what has happened to Frawley (3rd behind Al Ferof and Cue Card) in the bumper or what the plans are for Tavern Times who I really liked last year.
