Been mentioned today that he may go for the World Hurdle. I mentioned this last year and I think going for the RSA at such a young age was going to be very difficult. IMO his jumping lets him down a bit but he is losing his races due to being beaten by harder older horses. I think a campaign over hurdles could just give him that time to mature and give him that extra experience that he needs. At the moment I feel as a 5 year old he has got a huge task when it comes to the festival taking on the more experienced horses over fences.

No just think it's a good plan b if all doesn't go well at Kempton. There is plenty of time for him to jump fences.

Respect your views but how is sending a chaser over hurdles going to improve his chasing? All sorts of options to drop him in trip or grade, be it at cheltenham or not, but id have thought hurdles must be plan Z

NICKY HENDERSON has revealed that Long Run, beaten favourite in last week's Paddy Power Gold Cup, could end up running in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March, with the sponsors inserting him at 10-1 after hearing the surprise news on Saturday morning.
In his exclusive column in Saturday's Racing Post, Henderson said the Totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup, for which Long Run is as short as 16-1, might not be the objective. "As far as Cheltenham is concerned I wouldn't rule out the World Hurdle," he said. "That idea may put the cat among the pigeons, but let us take one step at a time." Long Run will continue chasing for now, with his next objective being the Stan James King George VI Chase at Kempton on December 26. Reflecting on last week's defeat, Henderson said: "We feel that over 2m5f in such a fast-run race he was never within his comfort zone, but it must be remembered he is just out of the novice stage and is only a five-year-old. He should have a better chance of finding his rhythm over three miles in the King George." The French import has not run over hurdles for more than 18 months and, on joining Henderson last year, he was put straight into Grade 1 company over fences, winning the Williamhill.com Feltham Novices' Chase over 3m at Kempton on Boxing Day. He dropped back to 2m to land the Grade 2 Totesport.com Kingmaker Novices' Chase at Warwick in February, but he has been beaten at Cheltenham in his last two races, finishing third in both the RSA Chase in March and the Paddy Power Gold Cup. |

As I said before the season started this horse will be overbet this season and was best avoided for betting purposes. Anyone who backed him the PPower will know that already. Anyone backing him antepost for anything needs their head examining unless they have a massive speculative 2 quid bet like Masterminded.
