2m mile race hopefully this is a proper horse nicky hendersons best novice hurdler apparently.im one of those who think cue card is NOT a certainty and i believe this to be one of hs biggest dangers.its a good race tommorow though
|
By:
Very surprised they are not starting him off over 2m. Seems to have speed to burn.
|
By:
I would not be taking evens on its debut, Henderson doesnt always have his smart hurdlers that fit on their first run.
|
By:
Good enough debut, pulled hard and jumped well until the straight where he got tired and made a couple of mistakes.
Reminded me of Riverside Theatre on his hurdling debut at newbury, he will come on tons by the look of it. |
By:
Agree IS. Looked like he'd be better off dropped back to 2m all the same.
|
By:
very good first run he travelled all over frascati park but blew up and barry wasant hard on him either he,ll make a top horse
|
By:
2 miler without a doubt.
|
By:
i couldnt understand why they started it over 2m 3f , he is all speed and clearly a 2 miler...ive been all over him ew at 25s for the supreme and i see the price is unchanged.
when wound up, over 2 miles and with a good pace i can see him being very very high class....jumped great too. |
By:
Totally agree,Istabraq.
|
By:
Pretty much agree with the above. Reminded me a bit of Mad Max, the way he travelled in his first??? novice hurdle.
|
By:
Still got well beaten by a horse that had failed to win in 6 previous runs. Can he really be top class?
|
By:
Not sure about him at all to be honest.Pulled first few furlongs, then settled and travelled and jumped fine,Would like to have seen him quicken at the end,but fto and maybe a bit too far could be valid reasons for that, plus pulling early on dont help.Have backed him for supreme and will watch his next race with fingers crossed!!
|
By:
frascati park is a funny horse one time he can look really good then other times he looks moderate and he is battle hardenend unlike sprinter sacre who still looked green and was blowing alot after the race apparently. back to 2m ridden more postively will help him also and his jumping was excellent
|
By:
Early last season Menorah ran a similar race, getting outstayed by a fair yardstick over 2m4f, before dropping back to his optimum, then obviously ending up with the Supreme.
|
By:
frascati park is a decent yardstick imo, i always trust a henderson novice to improve an awful lot after its debut.
|
By:
It's not often I'm impressed with a horse that gets beaten... but, this horse could be a bit special imo.
|
By:
Thinking about it sageform, can you name a better horse that was beaten on his last 6 runs
I know FP is a disappointing horse but he is a decent yardstick. |
By:
I also backed him a month or so ago for the Supreme and he will obviously be suited by a drop in trip but he travelled and jumped really well until 2 out and in the end was well beaten by a useful, but not top class horse.
I don't really subscribe to the view that he should come on a bundle - Hendersons good horses normally win first time out so although he is clearly very talented I don't see him as a Supreme winner anymore. Will be well suited to flatter sharper tracks like Kempton and Aintree. |
By:
NH trains horses for targets.
NH trains novices to peak during their career and never on their debut. I am starting to learn or i am clutching at straws. |
By:
fwiw, if you look at Frascatis Parks form closely you'll see his winning form is actually on Good or Good to Soft. In all of his hurdle races barring today he has raced on Soft or Heavy going, so perhaps that is why he got his head in front. He was well backed today aswell.
I'd not rule out SS for either trip at the moment tbh. |
By:
That didnt do the form any harm
|
By:
That's more like it.
|
By:
very nice...i have 25s tucked away..hopefully he runs in Supreme. Would maybe like another race for experience
|
By:
yep, could not have won more easily,at least we know we have a contender now,and a definite runner i would think unlike most of the fancies!!
|
By:
This is a MACHINE. Think it wins the Supreme
|
By:
lets hope so! ^^^
|
By:
very good as expected today but i wonder who barry geraghty prefers him or spirit son/minella class if i was henderson id save Sprinter for aintree run him again in a few weeks for experince
|
By:
Seems he prefers Sprinter Sacre, according to NH:
"Sprinter Sacre is very good and will get even better. He's big baby, but a very good one," said Henderson. "We have some good novices, but Barry likes him and I suspect he thinks he might be the best of them." |
By:
intresting
|
By:
This horse appear to have it all. He'll make some chaser too, touch wood, because he has tremendous size and scope.
Will they even send him to the Supreme? He looks a bit babyish and raw to me, and if he were mine i'd be seriously tempted to skip the race (particularly with the ammunition the trainer has for the race, he may be tempted to persuade the owner to by-pass it, as he did with Punchestowns as a novice (although he made his UK debut a bit late, in the February)). However, I am not certain that the horse's relative lack of experience will convince the trainer not to go, particularly if the jockey thinks it is his best 2m novice. In recent history he took Oscar into the same race on the back of 2 hurdles runs and 4 runs altogether (like Sprinter Sacre) and, although he'd had more flat runs, Ainama had only run over hurdles twice. Further back, Flown ran in the race (I think) with only 1 hurdles run. |
By:
yer right about flown mate,i was there that day,he had one 1 next to his name.
|
By:
Happy memories!
|
By:
Great work by those who are on at 25's [;)], shame I'm not one of them
The Supreme needs abit of strength in depth, bit too top heavy at the moment for me |
By:
yeh, backed flown, then had young pokey in the arkle, then a load of losers.Royal gait won the CH,i backed Morley street-think hes still running
|

please don't use words like "Aintree" or "bypass" brings a tear to my eye.
I'd be gutted if he didn't go. I see he's more or less ruled out Chablis from the festival. http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/cheltenham2011/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=racing/11/02/03/manual_163131.html&BID=20209 |

I will be pretty shocked if he doesn't run in the Supreme. Might be lacking a bit in experience but is not going to be lacking in talent. Barry and Nicky knew this was their best novice and I was told the same at the start of the season. I was soooo dissapointed with his first run but it looks as though that one can have a line put through it and Frascati Park isn't a bad horse. If he comes out of his race well all he can do is improve. I think this horse is a bit special.
|
By:
Would you say the 16's that still available with Korals is value?

Budd - was that the yr Osbourn (efectively) won the top jockey with a treble on the first day? My god, it seems like yesterday!
