Stan James announce that they will refund all losing win bets placed on the 2011 Stan James Champion Hurdle as a free bet up to a maximum of £250 if current Champion Hurdler Binocular retains his crown at next March's Festival.

Charlie McCann at StanJames told Cheltenhampro this afternoon

"The offer gives punters the insurance of having their money refunded as a free bet up to £250 if the 2010 Champion Hurdler retains his crown. I would imagine that supporters of Hurricane Fly or Peddlers Cross for example would be keen to take advantage of our concession safe in the knowledge that if their selection comes up short behind Binocular they will have their losing win stake refunded back into their account during the first day of the Festival. The offer runs from Sunday 14th November until midnight on Xmas Day.

decent that imo.

Very decent imo. I couldnt be arsed backing anything against bino, but will probably throw a few quid on solwhit and go native with them now.  Think those 2 could be forgotten horses in a way, as solwhit was a very sick horse in the weeks running up to last years race, and go native didnt run his race after an early mistake. They were fav and vying for fav last year, yet are double figures this.

In other words they think Binocular will win so they will save money if people back everything apart from him

If people back everything apart from the winner then they don't lose any money. In fact they gain a good whack because the refund is in the form of a free bet which they will make money from once the majority of people redeeming the offer lose anyway. Bookies don't give anything for free without alterior motives. This offer is to cut back on Binocular backers.

Alternatively, they don't fancy him and so don't expect to have to make good the offer, in the meantime, they've taken a few quid off Albion Dan that he didn't intend staking and many more like him. I haven't looked, but I doubt that they're standout about any horse now that this offer is in place.
Plus, if they've not taken him out of the betting, then they're as likely as any other bookie to be taking bets on him.

Actually they're best price on 9 out of the top 13 in the market [:o]

They have even pushed the Fly out to 6/1 which considering you get your money back if he doesn't run and Bino wins which could be very appealling for some I'm sure.

I read it and thought (hoped) it was a terminal disease that Bono had

It would have been worth laying just to have it come true.

Lemme get this straight. If I back Hurricane fly and Bimocular win I get refunded. Right?
What if HF is a non runner and Binocular don't win, I lose right?

imo the only thing that will prevent HF winning is Binocular repeating his CH performance of this year which is quite possible but not guaranteed either or HR being a NR

Hurricane Fly being a nr even

If HF runs and Bino wins, you get your stake back as a free bet.
If HF is a non runner and Bino wins, you get your stake back as a free bet.
If HF is a non runner but Bino doesn't win it's a losing ante-post bet.

Bonocular is Bino's gay brother that's why you don't hear much from the Henderson camp about him. He is hidden round the back after getting frisky with Long Run the night before the Paddy Power hence his dissapointing run.
