Fav tomorrow over 2m 5 at Wincanton after hacking up over same distance last time.  Anyone know if this one is likely to be good enough for the festival.  Can't see too many quotes from Nicholls plus you have the new race to contend with but at 80 now for the RSA it might be value albeit for pocket money.

with this new race i cant even look at the markets until intentions have been made. Although at those prices and small stakes you cant go wrong!?
Report Howdi November 6, 2010 12:19 AM GMT
^^^ unless he ends up in the new race  Laugh
Report The Scobster November 6, 2010 12:53 AM GMT
Well we'll know know tommorrow but any decent sort of win and I'd be interested at those odds...worth having a nibble in what looks wide a open RSA at this time of the year. Nicholls obviously no slouch with chasers and has won it with Denman. This one could be anything after hacking up FTO
Report booster November 6, 2010 6:49 AM GMT
Looked like a machine at Bangor but was really impressed by Wayward Prince at Huntingdon and some big guns to come out shortly.
Report The Scobster November 6, 2010 5:08 PM GMT
I'd think you'd have to say it's an early season contender after today. OK it fell but it jumped really well until then and IMO was going better than the winner when it came down. The winner was given a 25/1 quote for the RSA so I reckon the same about Robinson Collonges would be fair.
Report flyingbolt November 6, 2010 5:17 PM GMT
Took a good hold all the way. I'd have grave doubts about him staying 3m. I do think he's potentially top class though.
Report Masterminded November 6, 2010 5:59 PM GMT
looked really good the whole way around. can't believe he fell. his front feet just seemed to slip and knuckle down. absolutely did my bollocks on him today! ah well i will have to get it back next time. although i cant see him being any price!
Report Masterminded November 6, 2010 6:00 PM GMT
i have to add he was cruising when he fell and i think he would have gone on a bit from wishful thinking?
Report Albion Dan November 6, 2010 6:03 PM GMT
Like this fella, and also think he would have gone on to win today.
Report dananderson November 6, 2010 6:24 PM GMT
got to say i disagree i think hede get every yard of 3 mile no problem . will be better on soft and better on a left handed track . welsh national next year maybe
Report TD_Gunner November 6, 2010 6:43 PM GMT
Would have won by at least 10 lengths. Seriously good horse.
Report tweedledumbtweedletwat November 6, 2010 7:33 PM GMT
both seriously nice horses.remember that was effectively the winners seasonal debut and will come on for the run
Report Howdi November 7, 2010 12:41 AM GMT
how do you know he would have won by 10 lengths?
Report flyingbolt November 7, 2010 10:28 AM GMT
Why will he be better on soft when he's put up much improved performances on his 2 runs here on good ground ?

As for the Welsh National.......Grin
Report Masterminded November 7, 2010 11:26 AM GMT
Laugh
Report The Scobster November 7, 2010 11:35 AM GMT
I'm more concerned he goes on good ground which he does, with the RSA in mind
Report dananderson November 7, 2010 12:40 PM GMT
i think hell be better on soft simple as that its an opinion
Report dananderson November 7, 2010 12:41 PM GMT
nicholls has classier top notch novices than this one and this 1 will be 1 for the big long distance handicaps next year
Report Masterminded November 7, 2010 12:48 PM GMT
who iyo are nicholls best novice chasers this year?
Report dananderson November 7, 2010 12:50 PM GMT
sang bleu but hell not be given a hard time. royal charm definitely
Report dananderson November 7, 2010 12:50 PM GMT
robinson definitely needs a left handed track though was hanging teribly to the left and seemed unconfortable
Report flyingbolt November 7, 2010 1:26 PM GMT
"Hanging terribly to the left"

????????????????/

I don't know which horse you were watching mate but it wasn't Robinson Collonges. The only times he went left were when Wishfull Thinking took him left.

In my experience long distance chasers don't travel like this horse does.
Report dananderson November 8, 2010 7:51 PM GMT
early doors was hanging badly and was feeling the ground. better horse ons oft
Report flyingbolt November 9, 2010 1:18 AM GMT
He was NOT "hanging badly". He was pulling hard. It's not the same thing. The ground was on the fast side. He floated over it.

Learn the game.
Report dananderson November 9, 2010 8:23 PM GMT
dont be a dikk bolt no need 4 it. he looked like he was hanging to me. jut my opinion
Report flyingbolt November 10, 2010 1:59 PM GMT
Your "opinion" is wrong.

I'm trying to educate you.Mischief

Obviously wasting my time.
Report Somerset_Moan November 11, 2010 12:58 AM GMT
Flyingbolt, when you berate and badger people you're behaving like an offensive OIK...

There is NO need for you or anyone to show an utter lack of class by constantly barracking people with abuse... it is a forum where everyone is entitled to an opinion and verbal bullies are just big mouthed idiots - the empty bottles rattle loudest...

Give the people a break... and if you cannot, why not take it down the local nuthouse where they won't mind
Report flyingbolt November 11, 2010 1:14 AM GMT
Cheltenham 2011 is a serious forum,Somerset Moron.
It's for people who have some idea about the game.

Go back to Horse Racing with your clueless mates.
Report buddeliea November 11, 2010 8:03 AM GMT
Bolt, you are out of order my friend. Its a forum for all,and cos someone says something that you regard as wrong,by all means disagree if you like, but done belittle, just makes you out to be a rather nasty person.
Report topshot November 11, 2010 9:37 AM GMT
I love this forum as opposed to the horse racing one mainly due to the lack of idiots and the great info that can be gleaned from the knowledgeable posters in here.

Cant remember nasty comments like Bolts over the last couple of years.

Grow up mate.
Report flyingbolt November 11, 2010 11:15 AM GMT

Apart from my response to Somerset Moron's terribly upsetting post which of my comments did you find "nasty" ?

Topshot,Not a case of growing up,except maybe for those who think its grown up to belittle people on a public forum.

Bolt,i was unaware of your previous with Dananders.

Report flyingbolt November 12, 2010 7:14 PM GMT

Report dananderson November 12, 2010 10:17 PM GMT

u watch him jump left
Report sintonian November 18, 2010 3:36 PM GMT
He didn't jump left at any of those fences Dan.

It was a no contest and nothing but a confidence booster for him today.
Report Albion Dan November 18, 2010 3:37 PM GMT
Nice round of jumping.
Report flyingbolt November 18, 2010 4:22 PM GMT
Well, Dananders ?
Report dananderson November 18, 2010 5:11 PM GMT
that wasnt a race were u can make any sort of conclusions imo. horse was never under pressure and could have had a dump midrace and still won
Report flyingbolt November 18, 2010 5:27 PM GMT
Agreed.

But did he jump left ?????????????
Report dananderson November 18, 2010 5:32 PM GMT
no he didnt bolt but his jumping wasnt under any sot of pressure
Report flyingbolt November 18, 2010 5:36 PM GMT
He wasn't under any pressure at Wincanton either.Happy
Report The Scobster December 11, 2010 9:46 AM GMT
ttt - Given he's running today in this hot handicap off 148 a decent run round Cheltenham would put him right in amongst the top RSA contenders at this time of the season.

Entered in 2 races over the weekend.

Both at 2m.Love
Report strontium January 24, 2011 5:38 PM GMT
Was also in the 2m 5f race at the cancelled Haydock meeting on Saturday. Headed for the Jewson? Festival novice chase entries out this week may give a clue...
Report alexmillwall January 25, 2011 10:59 AM GMT
old or new jewson? nicholls took the handicap with chapoturgon a few years back, this horse was going well when falling over xmas.
Report strontium January 25, 2011 11:57 AM GMT
I was thinking new Jewson (Golden Miller Chase), but I really have no idea!
Report flyingbolt January 25, 2011 1:54 PM GMT
If he wins at the weekend the Grand Annual or even the Arkle will cme into the reckoning.

I'm not sure Cheltenham is the right track for him though.
Report alexmillwall January 25, 2011 1:57 PM GMT
didnt you think he was going well when falling in the vote ap?
Report flyingbolt January 25, 2011 2:00 PM GMT
He was going ok but I didn't think he was travelling like the winner. I had a good bet on him for that race and I wasn't too hopeful when he departed.
Report flyingbolt January 25, 2011 2:03 PM GMT
Having said that if he wins on Sat/Sun and then goes for the Grand Annual I'll probably end up backing him.Confused

The race I'd really like to see him in is the 2m novice chase at Aintree.
Report strontium January 25, 2011 3:49 PM GMT
Interesting Flyingbolt. Novices do have a cracking record in the Grand Annual, though he's already on a mark of 148 (why??) - Pigeon Island (129) and Oh Crick (130) were considerably lower the last couple of years (not looked before that). Might that discourage the handicap route for RC?
Report flyingbolt January 25, 2011 4:27 PM GMT
Possibly. Pearlyman was probably the last novice to carry over 11 stone to victory.
Report abbott January 25, 2011 5:06 PM GMT
Must admit Ive been having a look at him since reading this thread. He was still going well when coming down in a hot hadicap lto and Ill be interested in where he turns up come March.
Report strontium January 25, 2011 6:06 PM GMT
Plus it looks like 1998 since anything won carrying over 11st Flyingbolt. 148 equated to 11st 6 last year and 11-4 in 2009, though Nicholls could take a few pounds off with a claimer. At this stage the new Jewson has thrown a spanner in the works!
Report flyingbolt January 28, 2011 3:33 PM GMT
Declared at Donny tomorrow(2m)
Unfortunately the race has cut up so he'll be a short price.
Report abbott January 28, 2011 6:04 PM GMT
Think he could be Arkle bound?
Report Mister Westsound January 28, 2011 7:31 PM GMT
Why they are going to run RC over 2m on quick ground tomorrow I don't know.  Despite the opposition I'm not of the opinion this will suit this horse at all.  Has never struck me as a 2 miler and don't think he will appreciate the ground at all (look at the times at Donny today).  Never mind winning tomorrow I'm just hoping it doesn't scupper his chances of making the festival full stop.  Would be delighted to see him declared an NR in the morning.
Report strontium January 28, 2011 10:28 PM GMT
I think they're pretty keen to get a run - any run - into him. I agree 2 m seems a bit sharp, but he is entered in the Arkle, Jewson and RSA. I had him down as an RSA horse earlier in the season, but everything since hints at 2 1/2 m. I like the horse a lot (other than his falls) and also hope they don't wreck him.
Report flyingbolt January 29, 2011 8:36 AM GMT
Travels really well. I think 2m will be fine. His best runs have been on good ground so a fair chance he'll act on good to firm.
