This season I asked for both Silver By Nature and Great Endevour to be added to the Gold Cup market. I must admit I was looking for 400s+ for a small interest.

Neither reached that price and have now been matched much lower. Should I congratulate myself for not backing at a price that I felt comfertable at or am I a mug?

at least your intentions were honourable...some might do it just to be unscrupulous!

I got a 3yo hurdler added for The Triumph a few years ago.
Tried to back it - not matched - ran badly - so cancelled.

Yeah, I used to do this all the time, particularly with the Grand National and Melbourne Cup.  I just tried to add horses to markets that I thought were fairly likely to be entered.  I could always make my mind up later whether to back them or not, and in the meantime they may have worked themselves out to a decent price.
