Although it sounds daft because Money Trix is a ten year old, I still consider him to be unexposed having only run 13 times in his career.

If it finds a bit of improvement this year he could mix it with the big boys.

I have followed this horse since its younger days.  I still have a belief he does not need very soft ground, its just that he gets through it better than others.  I have had a few quid as well and I think if he turned up he would give a good account and could even rattle a few as he will definately stay.......major problem is the trainer....whereas I think the trainer is a magician and respect a lot, I get the feeling he prefers to take his to Aintree and usually lets his best horses miss Cheltenham.

Might win a big race this season Meat Loaf but the trainers a bit weird with running his at Cheltenham and I doubt he will even line up.

I agree the trainer doesn't usually run many at Cheltenham but lets not forget Turpin green finished third behind Kauto Star and Exotic Dancer a few years back. I know Nicky thinks Money Trix is a better horse than Turpin Green and surely the Gold Cup is his trip. If the horse stays injury free, has a decent season and the ground is soft or heavy I expect Money trix will definitely line up.

Since then the trend has been for him to miss Cheltenham. To be honest id like to see him try the welsh national.

Just found out from a contact he will hopefully have his first run at Kelso early December, before going for the Lexus - just in case anyone was remotely interested!

True Nick - but I think he will run very well if the ground is soft. Most runners in the Gold Cup don't really stay the trip, but Money Trix definitely would. Could be interesting?

This one has often been a good value bet, mainly because the injury problems have meant he has remained comparatively unexposed. A good horse perhaps for typical conditions in Irish staying chases, as he showed last season in the Lexus.

Like an earlier poster said, I don't think the horse intrinsically necessarily needs it soft, though his injury problems might mean soft is a preferable surface for him. But he probably wouldn't have quite enough speed to be competitive against the top GC horses on ground better than soft. If he turned up in the GC on unexpectedly soft ground, with the horse largely untrumpeted beforehand, there might be some good value in the place market on him.
