JUMP racing will have a new 'narrative' in the 2011-12 season it was revealed on Wednesday, with a British Jumps Championship set to replace the Order of Merit, which has been consigned to history.

With Flat racing having a British Champions' Series next season, which will end with the Champion Stakes at Ascot for the first time, jump racing is to boasta similar championship with an emphasis on the 'road to Cheltenham'.

Much like its Flat counterpart, the driving idea behind the change is to broaden racing's appeal to a wider audience, with the now defunct Order of Merit based on 70races from October to April considered to have served its purpose.

As with the flat, there's absolutely nothing wrong with the current 'narrative'.

It's just that the RFC idiots trying to promote it couldn't do so successfully if they had three lifetimes, imo...
