Just occured to me when thinking about ruby walsh, daryl jacob and tom obrien who have all got bans for minor offences in recent times, mccoy never sees to get any. is this because he always rides within the rules of racing or do the stewards treat him in a different light?

In his early days he used to get banned a lot.

They would and they have.
Got done for excessive use of the whip on any number of occasions 5-6 years ago. Has learned from this and is an even better rider nowadays in my opinion, using finesse on occasions as well as his incredible strength in the saddle. It's also helpful that he doesn't miss chunks of the season being banned too. |
