contrary to what Jonjo says the fast run champion should suit him for me, best to have a horse who stays further than the 2m.

thanks rhinestone, thought he would go well tbh

Binocular and GMOOH in the same race though?

If there both good enough he'd have to run them...not like there's a 2m4f hurdle as well. (although in a couple of years they maybe the way it's ****in going).

This is the horse I most fancied the Arkle though not going in until seeing a fence jumped may have paid off here.

Antepost Cheltenham with the new 2m 4f novice chase makes these chases none events now anyway unless you like throwing money away. Shame really as spotting and getting into a novice early and following it to either the Queen Mother or Gold Cup was really exciting for an antepost punter. Now you are going to have to virtually take day of race prices to have a good chance of a run so all value will be gone.

Let's say you back Celestial Halo for the Arkle and everything looks hunky dory beating average animals in the first couple of races, let's say then he loses to a horse that quickens away from him in a Graded race. Does Nicholls then move him to the new 2m 4f novice chase where he'll need less toe or leave him in the Arkle hoping the other horse doesn't make the race. The potential for late race target shuffling is immense now and by the time you find your horse is not going there late the prices on others will have gone by then so you may as well wait until the day.

good point Eric carnage AP. My guess is that the RSA Chase my feel the effects as it is a tough race for novices.

Maybe they'll try him over fences again 3 weeks before the race after giving him a back massage and he will school brilliantly and be back on course for the Arkle again. Happy

Jonjo mentioned in RP today he thinks the horse might end up going further than 2m and wont run unless he gets genuinely good ground.

What's the point in him going for the Champion Hurdle?  The owner's got Binocular. Mind you I could never understand why they ran Cee Bee and Binocular in the same supreme when either could have won that race and either may actually have won the Champion hurdle that year.

Mccoy schooled this fella and said he jumped like a stag so not sure, he also said he would not stick to 2 mile hurdles as Binocular is unstoppable. That is of course until approaching the final flight in March Binocular bounds clear but whats this Ruby hasn't moved a muscle on the Hurricane.

The Hurricane needs to get to Chelt first and foremost.

Two questions spring to mind.

1) How many champion hurdles has Ruby won?

2) How many festival winners have been by Montjeu?

A long way to go for that pairing to beat Binocular and the rest imo.

and just for fun.

3) How many champion hurdlers has Willie Mullins trained?

Matched @ 40 for the Arkle and shortening for CH. Does somebody know something? Surely not just people making assumptions based on is first run being over hurdles?

Jonjo said he schooled terribly and won't be running over fences, this season at least. See Rhinestone's link on this thread

Thebowery i wouldn't put the walsh/mullins excuse down at all as a reason to oppose him.

However, it is true as far as i'm aware that not only has Montjeu yet to sire a winner at the festival, but at cheltenham as a whole.
