vs Fedor Chudinov for vacant WBA belt

That will be 4 chances in 3 and a bit years .

Some guys in the Top 10 must be pissed off that he is never put back down the queue

yeah good point.

The connections of the UK promoters certainly count for a lot .

Also Germans do ok in getting title shots .

It's not so much the connections, it's the money the UK fighters bring. It means UK fighters are always near the top of the list for voluntary defences.

But it seems it's standard M.O. these days. Fight nobodies and get in line for a title shot. Haye supposedly has first shot at the WBO after Bellew. For beating 2 doormen and a cruiserweight Crazy. Callum Smith is going into fighting DeGale/Jack winner with very little on his record.

On Callum Smith, Sky keep saying he's nailed on to be world champion soon, and I saw odds before his weekend fight of 1/3 on him becoming a world champion next year. Those odds are dreadful. He won't fight DeGale/Jack winners until April earliest, and probably more like May-June if it's going to be PPV given there's already 2 PPV's lined up for March and April. No way is he 1/3 to win that, and you have to think if he loses he won't just go straight in for another world title chance next fight.

They will find a vacant title somewhere

Is hard for them to go for the vacant title when Hearn has been promising Smith to fight the DeGale vs Jack winner for about a year now.

Plus he probably wants it to put it on PPV. But just how many PPV's are Sky going to run. Haye vs Bellew. Joshua vs Klitschko. They are in talks for Brook vs Khan. Potentially Smith vs DeGale. By the time all that is done you'd be cycling back to Joshua's next fight you'd imagine. It seems too much. I'm not sure the public will buy into that many ppv's even if most of them bar Haye vs Bellew are excellent fights. Ironically Haye vs Bellew being first could be bad for them too, as it will likely be a let down relative to what it's being billed.

If he loses to Jack/DeGale, Eddie will have another title shot up his sleeve for Callum. Tyron Zeuge instantly springs to mind

'Callum Smith will battle Anthony Dirrell for the vacant WBC super-middleweight title , which could be staged at Anfield in May, says promoter Eddie Hearn. ' Cool

Tbf circumstances massively went against what I said. The WBC title is only vacant because Jack vacated it after a draw. They haven't actually gone after a vacant belt.

Groves has lost all those chances yes? There's no reason not to assume this won't be any different and it could just be a coincidence that he keeps getting chances others don't and he keeps on losing them of course......

He gets chances because he brings in extra revenue that most fighters around the world don't. He has a following and there will always be interest somewhere on TV to run one of his fights.

This would also be the weakest world champion he's ever fought.

He should win this fight really.

I must admit I do like George Groves he shut De gale up after being relentlessly called ugly kid and showed certain class after flooring Froch even though he caught him a bit square on but I think he has a big title in him.
