Report scandanavian_haven March 4, 2017 11:47 PM GMT
I think tober it's obvious haye was injured going into the fight and it was made noticeably worse after r3.

This is a seriously bad night for boxing.

Haye's stock is really diminished injury or not after this loss but what makes it worse is the begging on camera to BELLEW to have another fight on his terms, he's the man etc, that's not the real David Haye talking. Why don't they both just acknowledge Haye's ankle was f***** from the third round on, couldn't generate any power and even then Bellew couldn't knock him out.

Also, it kills any rematch hype, all of the artifical hatred they built up to hype this fight is now going to have to turn into a love fest, nobody will be that interested.

Biggest shame is we wont get to see Haye-AJ now, or Haye anyone like fury or Wilder.
Report Des Pond March 4, 2017 11:48 PM GMT
Haye might have won if he hadn't gone over the ankle, but the truth is he looked awful and I don't particularly want to see him in the ring again.

i think intitially the collapse into sub 1.2 was the in-play betters and the rest of the price up to 1.3+ was supported entirely by traders greening up.

Everyone thought that in Round 6 tbf and Haye was sub 1.2, Haye wasn't doing brilliantly but looked in control but then the ankle bust and it all changed. Huge chunks were done from 1.2 out to 6.0. Someone smashed on Haye 1.9 and then he was 6.0+ 5 seconds later.

Missed it, unfortunately, couldn't stay awake. Split decision, with Thurmann doing enough in the 1st part of the fight to get the decision. Only a small bet for me (on Garcia), because it was always going to be close. Garcia claiming that Thurmann ran for most of the fight, but it doesn't sound like he had too many complaints, tbh. Poor night for boxing. Only small losses for me, but the Bookies will have made a fortune with Haye losing. Plain

Haye didn't want to give any excuses after toe-gate so was more than magnanimous in defeat not referencing the ankle.

What is clear is that boxing is no longer a proper sport. Belts matter not, PPV is everything. You don't have to be a decent boxer, just have a big mouth which will lead to a grudge match. This is what the people want to see.

I'm no boxing fanatic but I imagine the purists must be cringing and holding their head in their hands at what the sport has become.
Report Des Pond March 6, 2017 8:57 PM GMT
Much of what you say is true, Hamster. But it's nothing new. Boxing at the big money level has been largely a circus for over 30 years. You do get some good fights still, but not at heavyweight and sadly, not in this country. Not very often anyway. Personally I don't think Haye should have been allowed to fight with such an injury. this is unfair on the paying public and not very honest or professional. Trouble is he has pulled out so many times in the past, due to injury, that he felt he had to save face and not pull out again. Either way it reflects badly on him, and the people who allowed the fight to go ahead. Some fans are so gullible that they deserve all they get, but real fans have been cheated, imo.
