Enjoyed the fight. Usual crowd on here talking shiite. Joshua will be unhappy with his nights work but will have learned a lot. Which is about where he should be at this point in his pro career. They should be talking about Fury in a couple of years. He needs to continue building and learn from some elementary mistakes tonight. Credit to Whyte though. If his body was as hard as his chin he too could be half decent.

The issue with Joshua he's not a youngster.  Fury is only 1 yr older. How will he improve to be anyway near Fury when they are around the same age???  I could be wrong but tonight's fight only proved to me that Joshua is not a World beater

Report Kriskin December 13, 2015 1:13 AM GMT
And if u listened to the ex Pro's tonite they all agreed that the hype previous is all it was.  Joshua looked very ordinary tonite against an average boxer.
Report Senyatta December 13, 2015 1:18 AM GMT
he made a lot of mistakes tonight but it will stand to him. he cant just jump into a haye or a fury yet. he needs more fights against decent journeymen before he will be ready for a world class boxer. if he did what he did in round 2-4 against a seasoned world class boxer he would have been knocked out. next time he wont make the same mistake. hes proven tonight he can take a shot so at least thats another big step in his fine career
Report Eeternaloptimist December 13, 2015 1:46 AM GMT

No personal disrespect to you Kriskin but it's comments like this that betray your clear lack up understanding. An issue may well emerge with Joshua down the line which stops him going all the way as can happen with any fighter on the way up but your comments are ill informed.

Firstly in todays terms as a heavyweight Joshua is indeed a youngster. Although he won Olympic Gold that was on the back of being very late to the sport beginning in his late teens. Fury is steeped in the sport with his dad being an average to fair British level fighter.

Secondly, Fury has been a pro for about seven years. Joshua about two. Fury has had about ten more fights, several of which are at a higher level with far more rounds gaining experience in a variety of settings against different styles.

Thirdly, at the same respective stages of their careers Fury already had the rounds under his belt. When he won his title against Chisora he'd fought about the same number of times as Joshua tonight. The critical difference though is that he'd fought fighters who got him a lot of rounds under his belt. I think in those first 15 or so fights 5 of them if you include the Chisora fight went to points. That's a vast array of professional rounds compared to Joshua who in effect was having his first proper fight tonight.

Fourthly, different fighters develop at different rates. Your pressure fighters like your Frazier's, Dempsey's and Tyson's (Mike) matured early and reached a peak early. Joshua carries a lot of power but this comes on the back of good combination work. He's more in the mould of your Lewis and Wlad type fighters. Guys who had major tribulations in their mid to late 20's and improved enormously under the tutelage of Manny Steward in their early 30's. Joshua has time on his side.

Fifthly, if you think you saw the real Joshua tonight you need to have a think. There's no doubt he got carried away with the intensity of wanting to do a job on Whyte. He got very tense, sloppy and fired far too many bombs early in the fight when he should have been breaking Whyte down with the combinations which we know he can throw. Only when he started to pick his shots did he open Whyte up relatively easily. He must and should learn a great deal just from that one aspect of the fight.

I was telling everybody and anybody who would listen back in 2011 that Fury had all the tools to be our next heavyweight champion. Feel free to check that out on Carlos Monzon's thread on here. There's no doubt Joshua fought a sloppy fight tonight. At least he has the excuse of being overtaken by the emotion of wanting to smash Whyte up. Let's not forget though that Tyson was incredibly lucky to get that decision against John McDermott.

Joshua can and must continue his education. He needs to get in with two or three of the usually durable eastern european fighters, take it down a notch, work on developing his ring craft and in a couple of years he should be ready for a world title fight. Ask me nearer the time and I'll let you know who will win and why. Wink

Joshua didn't box as a kid. With his conditioning could well be boxing into his 60s like hopkins.

Would like to see whyte chisora next
Report n88uk December 13, 2015 5:03 PM GMT
But given his conditioning, his stamina seemed pretty awful. He was pretty much gassed after 2 rounds. This revealed a couple of things. Joshua's fights have been all about explosion so far, but it seems clear at world level he is going to have to slow down, to pace himself. You can't just go in first few rounds and windmill it, because quality opposition will find a way to last those rounds. In other words he will lose some of the shine of what's made him look devastating so far.

I find it laughable Fury is priced up 11/8 outsider to beat Joshua in 2016. Ok the fight never happens in 2016, but seriously? Fury would destroy Joshua right now. Joshua was struggling with White's movement, and White was hardly in great shape. He simply wouldn't land on Fury right now, and be made to look silly all night. Joshua needs to fight a few hard to hit guys on his learning curve, before he even thinks about moving to world level. It's ok looking good knocking out people in the first few rounds, but eventually you will come up against opposition that can last through those rounds.
Report Eeternaloptimist December 13, 2015 5:45 PM GMT
From the evidence last night there's nowt wrong with his stamina. From the fourth round he took over the fight completely and finished Whyte with an explosive combination. His problem was that he went out with the choke out because he became embroiled in the emotional side of the fight. Anybody who fights on adrenaline won't last nearly as long. It's a testament to his conditioning, stamina and ability to adapt that he refilled his reservoir, changed tack and ultimately destroyed Whyte.

At the moment I think it's hard to know too much other than Josha does need more experience. Styles make fights so let's not get too carried away with the Wlad victory. Fury still needs to continue beating other fighters with different styles. Nobody fighting Joshua will have an easy night, especially Fury who isn't a massively destructive puncher.
