On recent form Murray will do well to see the second half but you never know with Murray, he does seem to have the ability to raise his game significantly on occasion. Surely only one winner but I wouldn't like to punt on how long it lasts.

Surprised to see Golovkin the slightly bigger man at the weigh in, 'dont think he would have any problems moving to SMW.

I've played GGG points at 15-2 the reason for is I dont think Murray will come out of his shell will wait till the KO hits evs and have a free one. Dont think GGG will be in a rush Saturday and I think Murray will be happy to lose on points
Report Jimmy Diamond February 21, 2015 12:11 PM GMT
Exactly my thoughts sj. I got 7/1 GGG points and my breakdown is exactly as yours. Murray is tough with a good defence and i can see him happily losing on points here despite what he says. Golovkin will be patient enough and Murray did have good performances against Sturm and Martinez. The MOV prices for this fight are way off if you ask me and give MM no respect at all.

Que another GGG demolision job!

I think its the right play Jimbo, Snachez said after the 1st round last time "We've got all night to try stuff take your time" He took a while to get Adamu out last year in Monaco think we're right to play. Gonna DM you mate

Yeah i remember that mate, against Rubio wasn't it. 7/1 is just too big considering MM is durable, might try and cover like you but depends as i'll be out. Ive replied to your PM mate, shame we missed the Warrington Ko price.

problem is murray likes to shell up, many fighters struggle to break through that and or don't go to body well. If he shells up can see another macklin ko
Report Horangi. February 21, 2015 6:02 PM GMT
Curtis Stevens shelled up and is a pretty durable guy but in the end it didn't matter.  But odds wise its got to be a small gamble on the distance, GGG hype at its peak.

Quality as ever from GGG.  There's holes there to be exploited though particularly as he moves up.
Report RBoyd86 February 21, 2015 11:55 PM GMT
problem is those holes at this weight i cant ever see being a problem but as u say may be when he moves up i just think its so sad that he has to move up to get a fight

anyone heard the rumours kvalev got pulled from sparring with him as he was getting beaten down?
Report Geesyerdosh February 21, 2015 11:56 PM GMT
Mayweather, Alvarez, Cotto won't go near him at any weight even though I'm sure he'd meet them at a catchweight.

Cotto has to relinquish now surely. He's not a middleweight.
Report RBoyd86 February 21, 2015 11:57 PM GMT
cotto ould be out within 3 for me
Report Only-the-Brave February 21, 2015 11:57 PM GMT
Always take sparring rumours with a pinch of salt myself.  Him vs Kovalev down the line would be a war though.  By all accounts GGG holds his own even sparring against light heavies - but again it's a different matter in the ring/proper fight.

Needs to start adding some names to his CV now though.  Despite his record (and through no fault of his own tbf), he's lacking them atm.
Report RBoyd86 February 21, 2015 11:58 PM GMT
can only fight whats there just such a shame no one at this weight there to fight. preying alvarez moves up
Report Only-the-Brave February 21, 2015 11:59 PM GMT
Not disputing that mate but legacy/reputation can only increase by getting these names on his cv.  Can't see the Cotto's etc troubling him but they will enhance his profile/cv no doubt.  At the moment there are no real marquee names on his victims list.
Report Geesyerdosh February 22, 2015 12:00 AM GMT

Report bobweenit February 22, 2015 12:06 AM GMT
Froch would never fight him though just looking 4 a big pay day that he can win
Report Only-the-Brave February 22, 2015 12:10 AM GMT
That performance will have a few of the smw's considering it though you'd think.  Looked there to be hit at times - a lot of that though was probably down to lack of respect for what Murray was throwing.
Report Geesyerdosh February 22, 2015 12:13 AM GMT
If he was to step up to 168 to get big names his time there could be over after 2 or 3 fights if he gets the wins. Where does he go then light heavy?

I would like to see him face either or all of Cotto, Alvarez or even Mayweather first. Doubt very much it will happen though. Pity.
Report Only-the-Brave February 22, 2015 12:17 AM GMT
may weather will be retired before he's touted as a legit opponent.  Ward's team called him out but ggg's team didn't want that fight yet.  As you say I'd be trying to make the name fights vs your cotto, cannel's etc.  Even a Lara would do although again that is a high risk/low(ish) reward fight.  If none of them can get made then it looks ever likely that super middle is where it's at for him.  Riskier there though - would prefer him to fight those below him initially before going up.

Report vinnie_roe February 22, 2015 12:20 AM GMT
Golovkin isn't going to get the big fights at 154 - 160, because he's too damn good. He's a small middleweight though and won't be at his best if he moves up to 168.
Report alabaster crashes down February 22, 2015 12:21 AM GMT
brave from Murray, the lad took a beating.

Golovkin - Froch is a dream fight. Golovkin is pretty open be interesting to see if Froch can hurt him. I think Froch is probably a little too over the hill tbh but it would be a great spectacle and I'd never rule him out against someone hittable.
Report Only-the-Brave February 22, 2015 12:24 AM GMT
GGG far more chance of getting the big fights than Ward has you'd think.  His style will always sell fights/make him a decent draw = $$$.  As always with boxing though it's down to the promoters and internal politics.
Report Only-the-Brave February 22, 2015 12:25 AM GMT
Yeah you defo couldn't rule Froch out in that type of fight.  Would be a great watch, tough to pick.
Report Geesyerdosh February 22, 2015 12:27 AM GMT
He would look small at 168. Murray looked much bigger in there tonight although admittedly he is a huge middleweight.
Report alabaster crashes down February 22, 2015 12:31 AM GMT
he stopped Bute and Dirrell in the amateurs didn't he so I don't think size would be too much of a factor. Froch isnt one of the monster size SMW is he anyway.
