Just noticed that most bookmakers go with Frampton at around 2/9.
Obviously he is the favourite but I'm thinking this is a bit too short.
Any opinions?

yes he's a little too short, Kiko was 9/2 outright for a while with StanJames. I nearly had a little play at that price but have held off for now. Need to rewatch a few fights but my instinct tells me it's a tricky fight but one which Frampton should have the ability to win, albeit maybe with a few scares along the way.
Report fayaz1 August 25, 2014 12:43 PM BST
The fight wasn't going all Carl's way last time until he caught Kiko with that shot, i wouldn't be lumping on Carl at any of the current prices available for him.
Report Only-the-Brave August 29, 2014 12:30 PM BST
probably on the short side but it's a handpicked one.  Should be far too good for martinez - let's see if they decide to put him anywhere near Rigo after
Report sj August 29, 2014 9:01 PM BST
Hardly handpicked he's the world champion they offered Leo plenty of money but he turned it down. Would you let your fighter near Rigondeaux when he hasnt fought in a world title fight? You want hand picked look no further than the WBA "regular" champ. Bantamweights and fair trade farmers
Report Only-the-Brave August 30, 2014 1:13 AM BST
I'm not knocking them for it - smart move imo.  Easiest fight he could take atm (weighing up risk/reward), world title, and a fight he should win comfortably.  Rigo bit was tonight in cheek - they'd be mad to put him anywhere near him.  Rigo on a completely different level to Frampton, Leo, Quigg etc.
Report sj August 30, 2014 11:25 AM BST
Not ready for Rigo, Leo was offered £500,000 and didnt want to come over and for some strange reason Hearn think Frampton brings nothing to the table V Quigg so isnt entitled to 50-50. Lets think about that why on earth should the man who brings all the fans have less than 50-50 against a so called world champion who was SUPPORT to Murray V Crolla for the WBO intercontenial title. I mean you could fit Quigg s fanbase into a mini bus
Report alabaster crashes down August 30, 2014 12:06 PM BST
I think the Boxnation deal was the main stumbling block to the Quigg fight in the end...it looks further away than ever now though...I think 50-50 split was fair before given than Quigg had the 'belt' and Frampton had the fanbase but Eddie seems to think it's still fair even if Frampton wins the real IBF, not sure that makes much sense really perhaps that's just a negotiating position he cant really believe that surely. There's obviously a big problem between Hearn and Barry M though, let's hope money talks in the end and they can settle their differences, gonna be satisfying when Quigg silences the snipers and leaves Carl on the canvas Wink

Anyone know if Kiko has a rematch clause? Would seem unlikely he'd defend his belt away from home in a voluntary without one? That could delay a Quigg-Frampton showdown even further I suppose.
Report mightymoyes August 30, 2014 12:09 PM BST
quigg seems happy to fight nobodies for the next few yrs
Report alabaster crashes down August 30, 2014 12:14 PM BST
think he's far from happy with it mate tbh, does anybody really doubt they tried to get the LSC fight? LSC not interested in fighting anyone of note while the Haymon thing rumbles on it seems.

Quigg's career has stalled pretty badly no doubt but he's plenty young enough to turn it round.
Report sj August 30, 2014 12:29 PM BST
Yes I doubt it mate, As if Hearn is gonna chuck Quigg in with LSC with Frampton round the corner. Not a chance. Since being given the "world title" cos he didnt win it V Salinas(a man beaten by a bloke 15-7 not long ago) look at the durge he's fought. Hearn wouldnt stick his hand in his pocket to get barker home advantage V Geale FFS would have cost next to nothing to get Porter over for Brook and people really think he was gonna pay for Leo and risk the Frampton pot Laugh Hearn needs to get a grip Frampton brings the dough Quigg brings tap all
Report alabaster crashes down August 30, 2014 12:42 PM BST
I know I aint gonna convince you mate so not much point debating Laugh

Hearn is making a balls up of Quiggs career at present I'll give you that, I do believe they tried to make the LSC fight though, in America obviously not over here, he's talked openly about it enough times, personally I think it's more likely that Haymons games have taken LSC out of the equation than it is Hearn is flat out lying.

Not sure either Barker or Brook will be bemoaning Hearn's promotion of them pair will they? Both hit the jackpot in effect. He did bloody well to get Barker the shot against Geale, the easy route to the title that everyone wanted, never mind where it was held. He then won and cashed out in germany when he wasn't even fit to fight. Happy retirement.

Porter coming over here I just don't understand why people even question that? Porter said many times there was no way he was coming to England, no matter what the purse. And why should he? He was the ****g champion. So what should they have done? Forced him to vacate and fight Ionut Dan for the vacant strap? Screwing up any relationship with GoldenBoy and the british haters would have had a field day sniping at Kell as a fake champion.
Report sj August 30, 2014 12:56 PM BST
So he's gonna put Quigg in a fight where he is outsider and risk losing the Frampton pot? Do you believe that? Not looking to argue just lets be honest why would you risk it? The man doesnt put his hand in his pocket ACD  surely you can see if hes not gonna pay for people like Geale why would he risk Quigg Frampton?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HhNftH9l-k

Listen to him. So much shoite comes out his mouth "I told the Mcguigans you wont get kiko" And why cos unlike Barry he wont dig deep
Report sj August 30, 2014 1:03 PM BST
And as for the old man jesus what a load of tripe. Hearn wasnt willing to bring Romero for Carl after Kiko I. He's a tight ar se. And you can check that on the post fight presser.

"Is Frampton gonna go over and fight for a cuple of hundred thousand pounds? NO!" thats the words of Hearn but Quigg is?Laugh So many contridictions
Report alabaster crashes down August 30, 2014 1:17 PM BST
well he put Brook in with Porter as a big outsider didn't he? it would have been easier to land the Khan fight by picking up the vacant strap off Dan? Its a similar situation, both times his fighter needed a big fight because the obvious domestic one had stumbling blocks.
Report sj August 30, 2014 1:22 PM BST
Well Brook had to win the IBF to get close to a Khan fight. If he didnt fight Porter he wouldnt of fought for a vacant would he? That makes no sense. This Quigg aint a one off. Salinas, David Silva(not the City player) Munyai and now bantamweight Jamie Mcdonell victim Jamoye. So he is clerly waiting out for Frampton and a big fight.
He will not stick his hand in his pocket that video tells you that. "You wont get Kiko Martinez" He said no way would he pay Kiko 500K for a Quigg fight you can find that on a I Film interview, why didnt he get Quigg that fight?
Report sj August 30, 2014 1:26 PM BST

Report alabaster crashes down August 30, 2014 1:38 PM BST
It is mate, nipping out now will pick this up again later
Report alabaster crashes down August 30, 2014 5:03 PM BST
yeah as I was saying, imo they could have got Brook a shot at the vacant belt by letting Brook-Porter go to purse bids...they would have been easy enough to win and Porter would probably have then vacated, he said there was no way he was coming to England.

That's all by the by though, the point is Quigg-LSC in the states would have been a big fight in itself, there would be no  need to protect Quigg in order to get a big fight with Frampton...they'd already be in a big fight, and one in which defeat wouldn't even be a disaster for a future Quigg-Frampton bout. Hearn has talked plenty about negotiating the LSC fight and the lukewarm interest from their side...if it's all complete bullshit someone from the LSC/Goldenboy camp could easily have called him on it.

I agree he doesn't like putting his hand in his pocket, it's just not their style of promoting (Bringing Bute over for Froch a notable exception), they're accountants not gamblers, but in any case up to now I don't really think it's been to the detriment of any of his fighters. Brook and Barker both won belts on the road, Bellew, Purdy, Rees would all have been smashed wherever the fights were held. Quigg really is the first one to suffer as a result.

I'm sure they would have loved to get the Kiko fight for Quigg but Barry M. has taken a big punt and blown them out of the water. Fair play to him but he himself admitted at the presser they've broke the bank to get him over, something that is easier to do when you've really only got one client and that client has a rabid provinicial fanbase.

Anyway I hope Frampton wins and we'll see what happens then...can't make head nor tail of the rumours myself...one minute you hear Frampton is heading back to Sky, the next that he cant stand Hearn, then Warren throws in a curveball with all this Rigo talk. **** knows whats going on really
Report sj August 30, 2014 6:05 PM BST

Laddies gone 6/1 Kiko stoppage, 14/1 rounds 7-12. Pretty good prices those I'm going to have a very small interest, thought Carl was looking just a little bit ragged past the half way point last time before he took care of business. Don't really like backing an outcome I'd rather not see but odds seem generous to me.
Report sj August 31, 2014 6:31 PM BST
I wouldnt put anyone off that.He looks a different fighter since last time, maybe that is to do with DR FuentesWink I certainly wouldnt back Carl by KO 10-11 I thought he was going to win had him 78-74 at time of stoppage but that was some shot he pulled out. Will probably back Carl via decision

not so much that he left as that they're desperately trying to get him back...obviously playing hard ball i.e. look this is how we will ignore you if you dont come to an agreement. Petty isn't the word, they're like a bunch of kids all of them.

I'm broadly a fan of what Hearn is doing but he needs to stop pretending he owns a TV network, surprised how much slack SKY are giving him really.

I'm guessing the Quigg bandwagon is a dwindling force on here now Laugh I'm still not getting off the train yet...been tough times to be a Quigg fan since the Munroe fight (nearly 2 years ago!) but still think he has the talent to be competitive with Frampton...goes without saying Frampton will be way better prepared should they meet though.
