You know Miguel inside out and have probably seen as much of Alvarez as anyone. At this stage in Canelo's career, is he as good as the faded Cotto and how do you rate Alvarez in comparison to Cotto's peak?

Tricky weekend this, looking for all angles to find something back able.

Thanks in advance mate.

If your looking for something to back Duke, i dont think you can go too far wrong if you took Walsh tko/ko at 6/4, Fury Pts at 11/4, Cleverly Pts at 6/4 & Alverez Tko/KO at 5/2

Well, thats my bets! :-)

Alvarez reminds me very much of Cotto. Does everything very well without being exceptional at one facet of their game apart from Boxing brain.
I wouldnt touch the Alvarez fight I'm in total agreement with Ericali Walsh KO I think is massive. I dont really rate Walsh but Scott Harrison is a drunk who has fought 2 bums in 8 years.
Also done the Clev KO as I think Krasniqi is a very small framed Light Heavy

2.94 (as it stands)Trout is a fantastic punt for what in my eyes is an 1/1 each of 2.  As highly rated as Canelo is I've yet to see anything that matches the hype, (and that kid has had a lot of fights).  Trout has done nothing but improve, nothing spectacular but looks better every time against better opponents as he moves up the ladder. I don't mind being proven wrong when I have value on my side.  Trout for me on ponts

the trout price reflects the Canelo hype machine though doesn't it? He'll have to absolutely dominate to get the decision. 35-40k crowd expected tomorrow...not many can draw a crowd like that over the pond, 'take some brave judges to derail the money train if its even reasonably competitive.

Weights: Canelo 153.5 lb., Trout 153.25 lb.

Yeh Al's beat me to the punch there, if you think it's a 50-50 fight then it's actually more like at least 60-40 in Alvarez favour because of his box office value, probably closer to 75-25.

Thanks SJ, I've put a few thoughts for the weekend in the other thread, think this has got points decision all over it. Just a matter of how controversial that turns out, as Trout can seriously box.

Just for my reasoning on the Trout Vs Alverez fight.

In the Cotto Vs Trout fight i thought Cotto bossed the first 4-5 rounds, pushing him back, then for some strange reason, just STOPPED..

Whether it was age, fatigue or he just doesnt have "it" any more, i think Alverez will be able to do that for 12 - but i dont think it will go 12 as i think Trout will wilt & be stopped between 8-10.

canelo stoppage late rounds

Only gave Cotto the 4th, Trout the 1,2,3 and 5. Thought he was instantly the ring general and the fight was thought at his pace from the start. Alvarez has got more energy than that Cotto plus he's got the benefit of seeing that fight. Still reckon he'll find it difficult to penetrate Trout. His movements so good, he's excellent at slapping shots away while turning the man and knows how to tie up inside. Cagey affair this, can't see loads of action if I'm honest.

Again agreeing with Ericali Cotto seemed to "old man" Trout out of rounds. Cotto just doesnt have it anymore far too many hard fights. By the way chaps, Walsh Harrison is a 10 rounder make sure what teh score is with your bookie. I've had mine voided and now waiting for them to go back up

What will the links be like for this gents? Once again I'm not in the house this weekend. Think Boxnation's been great value but they really should provide a sky-go styled online service for subscribers. Not willing to take out another subscription online.

Looking a little silly the knockers of Warren's channel now aren't they? Think I was branded a 'Mug' for parting with 10 quid a month all this action Confused

Report Duketurtle April 20, 2013 8:16 PM BST
Jokers? I'm peering into your miserable world tonight scurrying around for links like a rat. You do this weekend in weekend out to save £10 and us subscribers are the mugs? Hahaha, you're a mess.
Report sj April 20, 2013 9:09 PM BST
Well got that wrong, Walsh should learn that he cant switch hit to save his life. If he stayed in a orthodox stance he KO'S him by 7
Report Duketurtle April 20, 2013 9:11 PM BST
Not sure you did mate, think he was a gonna over 12. Harrison would have gone harder for longer early and Walsh wouldn't have took his foot off the gas late if it was going 12. Unlucky really.

sj what is your opinion on cleverley? he looks to have all the talent in the world to me, not a lot of power but works body well... is it just that he's lazy or is it that he needs a step up in competition finding it a bit to easy?
Report Duketurtle April 21, 2013 12:12 AM BST
Think he deserves a bit of credit tonight Clev, it was always going to be a fight he'd struggle to receive credit for regardless of the performance but he's got a decent skill set Krasniqi and turned out to be real game. Maybe Frank's right and he will step it up a few notches when the opposition heats up. Power's worrying though, doesn't seem to be much in those hands and I still get the impression Hopkins will tie him in knots.
Report RBoyd86 April 21, 2013 12:17 AM BST
Just looks a different fighter when he ups the work load... not saying he will, but its not power u need to beat hopkins its punch output..
Report sj April 21, 2013 12:51 AM BST
I like to see him back to his Murat style. I didnt like the so called jab tonight. Think others will walk through that. There was rumours of him being burnt out 18 months ago. I dont know whether he just done enough tonight or that was has much as he could do, and he was at full throttle
