He really should have been moved a lot further in his career by now but at least they now have a decent cross roads match for him - Ruslan Chagaev in Dusseldorf 1st Dec. When fit (around 230 lbs) and motivated, he can be real handful with his power and handspeed.  For his last 2 fights, almost 12 months ago, he hasn't been in the best of shape and only went through the motions. I'd love to see him in with Price or Fury. A win against Chagaev would be a great kick start to his career and get a bit of buzz back in the heavyweight scene.

whats he been doing?

He's another Cuban boxer who likes his pies. Often they seem to lack the necessary discipline after such a regimented amateur career.

hopefully he really is back now! good win last night.

yeah, finally he seems to have a settled team and some stability behind him. good fight last night. he showed he as a good chin too.
Report Horangi. November 3, 2013 10:07 PM GMT
A great chin, surprised he stood toe to toe so much.  Especially at the start of the fight.  Very good win which should propel him to some decent paydays in the future.

Needs to stop leaning over so much when he's on the inside, completely exposed for uppercuts/hooks he doesn't see coming.

Can't see many jumping at the chance to take Perez on now that he has put Abdusalamov in a coma. Broken hand, broken nose and a blood clot, fairly amazing he boxed on and hopefully pulls through.

''Magomed Abdusalamov in the ICU in a medically-induced coma following an hellacious battle with Mike Perez this past Saturday on HBO.

Abdusalamov, 32, lost a 10-round decision in a fight some felt should have been stopped as the fighter complained of obvious injuries during the bout, only to have his corner continue to send him out to fight. With power like his, any one punch could have turned the fight around, and it was a huge opportunity for Abdusalamov. He never, to our knowledge, specifically asked the corner to stop the fight, either, and it's not totally on John David Jackson or anyone else on Abdusalamov's team. Boxing is vicious. Boxing is savage. And these things can and will happen.

HBO Sports President Ken Hershman released a statement last night, sending the heavyweight fighter best wishes from the network.

"The thoughts and prayers of all of us at HBO Sports are with Magomed Abdusalamov," Hershman said. "We are grateful for the medical care he is receiving here in New York City and out of respect for Magomed and his family, we will wait for any official updates on his condition before making any further statements." ''

Abdusalamov has suffered a stroke now, possible he may not make it now.  Sad story this, hopefully he pulls through.

yeah corner need looking at as well saturday

Terrible news. Not just the corner sj, surely the facial damage was enough for the ringside Dr to step in and say enough. This does not happen enough, remember guillermo jones v lebedev earlier this year.
