Dire.

Eddies got this one wrong for me, I know the position they were in was far from straightforward but should have just pushed the boat out and made a proper fight while Carl's star is riding high. Just can't see this selling, I know I won't be going. I'm a massive fan of Froch but let's be honest they struggled to sell out for Bute, 'reckon they've misjudged his popularity quite badly if they think they can sell out the notts arena with such a blatant time-filler.
Report smido25 August 28, 2012 4:18 PM BST
Very disappointing but this is what happens when you take a fight were the other team have 'options' on you. No way this sells out. Was in Nottingham last weekend and my mates were not happy that you can buy tickets to something and not know what opponent is!

You can't begrudge Froch a softish defence after the run of fights he has had.
Report owl4life August 30, 2012 7:11 PM BST
You can't begrudge him a softish fight I agree, but i can begrudge him this sack of sh*t.
Report smido25 August 31, 2012 2:06 PM BST
Agree you can't begrudge him a soft defence but we need to remember that Froch doesnt want a soft job himself! I fear for motivation in this fight.
Report alabaster crashes down August 31, 2012 3:03 PM BST
froch is 1/33, I think it stretches the definition of a soft defence a bit!
Report Jimmy Diamond August 31, 2012 3:49 PM BST
Macks a poor opponent, there is no doubt about that, but anyone who would begrudge Froch a soft defence like this and critisce him for it are way off the mark for me.

He's had an incredible run of fights who no other fighter on the planet can match and he's travelled all over to do it. I wasnt very keen on Froch 5 years back because he seemed cocky and a bit arrogant.........in actual fact he's anything but. Backed up the talk with walking the walk.

This is obviously a 'stay busy' fight with bigger things planned next year. The fact that he might struggle for motivation a bit will present him with a challenge he hasnt faced for years so why not. Would have preferred someone a Sakio Bika or the like though.

Wonder what the MOV and Froch 1-6 odds will be.

There's not even an element of the unknown here, Mack is toss, been beaten comprehensively everytime he's stepped up.

There must have been better fights out there.

I have no problem with Froch or with Hearn for that matter but i think the ball has been dropped here.
Report Duketurtle September 2, 2012 11:19 PM BST
Agree with the lads saying Froch can have an easy one, Mack's fine record wise to keep busy for me but surely they could have added a bit more sizzle from a business POV. I'd have gone domestic, Kenny Anderson would have been an option.

Into 1/25 now, get on before the price goes lads.
Report alabaster crashes down September 6, 2012 11:27 AM BST
dunno if you lads use twitter at all, been some interesting exchanges between Hearn and Warren regarding a Froch-Cleverly match up. Seems Warren tried to make this fight and Hearn just dismissed it out of hand...surely would make much more sense than the Mack fight. Can only be promotional issues stopping it happening surely, looks like a no-brainer for Froch to me...plenty of money, a title at a second weight, soft opposition, a ready made excuse if he did get beat, Frochs title not on the line so no worries about the Bute fight. I know which fight I'd prefer to see.
Report clive82 September 29, 2012 11:18 AM BST
No question the arena will be sold out for what will probably be the last time he fights at home.

Don't know who told you it was a strugggle to sell out the Bute fight?
Report alabaster crashes down September 29, 2012 11:49 AM BST
With Bellew on the undercard and Sky becoming Matchroom TV of late with all the build up shows and features then I suppose there is a chance of this selling out now. It was a struggle to sell out the Bute fight though, there were still tickets available on the day of the fight and that was with approx 1000 Bute fans in attendance. I went to the weigh in the day before and they were still pushing tickets there.

I've still got my doubts the Bute rematch will happen to be honest, lets see how Bute looks in the Grachev fight first, we don't know how much his confidence was knocked by the froch shellacking.

Mack says he's in the best shape ever! ...yeah, well they all say that don't they. I remember years ago Clinton Woods complaining he had poor sparring in preparation for some disappointing performance or other. He said his chief sparring partner Yusaf Mack just couldn't handle getting it in the trenches, and when he turned up the heat he wilted every time. Questioned his toughness so to speak. Mack has folded in most of his big fights, and will surely do so again in about 8 rounds.

tbh - blatant promotor error, Froch is too good and should be too great to pick such a cattle opponent...poor show

Report carrie1187 November 17, 2012 11:18 PM GMT
Still quickest anyone has ever got rid of him but tbh i think he could of had him gone in round 1 just wanted to long it out a bit as last time he'll fight in nott.

This main event got a pass from fans cos it was Froch and they respect his run of opponents but this was always gonna be an horrific mis-match.

The card on 8th dec looks to be far better than this one, here's hoping.
Report carrie1187 November 18, 2012 2:48 AM GMT
the 10-11 rounds 1-6 was a gimme
