Don't often post on here but a remember reading a few posters saying that even when he was speaking he sounded punch drunk.Looks like the end is nigh.
Report carlos monzon July 15, 2012 4:51 AM BST
Sad to say.

I dnt say it often

especialy with guys 25 and under.

But it's retirement time. Or seriously hurt time.

His speech and comments surly he is slowing down.

Feel sowi for him. He will keep going, keep getting knocked out now.

The boys r gona gun for him
Report casemoney July 15, 2012 4:57 AM BST
If that punch hit him on the chin he would be finnished at all levels ,time to call it a day  and now ..

he didnt see the punch at all ,great fighter pure class but his days are numbered IMVHO ...

Am I the only one who disagrees with everyone saying Khan fought the wrong fight? I thought he started really well in rounds 1 and 2 and simply got caught. Don't think it was necessarily wrong game plan. Good jab, 3 punch combos, in and out.
Report ArmchairIdiot July 15, 2012 5:06 AM BST
He always gets hit. Always. He always seems to fight the wrong fight. Hs last few wins have all been wars.
Report Areyoutalkintome? July 15, 2012 5:07 AM BST
No ring craft, no defensive instinct or contingency plan when things go wrong. Granted, the first was a heavy knockdown, Khan got up too soon, there was no intention to take the count. Fair enough, he may not have had that option as his head was scrambled, I just think that it shows his naivety at dealing with the negatives of a bout.
Report sj July 15, 2012 5:07 AM BST
Totally agree Smido. He get caught once properly, even that wasnt flush and down he goes again. I have my opinion why. This is abloke who couldnt finish off washed up Holt and Morales and Theopane. First time he catches Amir it goodnight
Report ArmchairIdiot July 15, 2012 5:07 AM BST
Garcia isn't even a banger, yet he was knocked scatty. He's done. Punch resistance is getting lower by the month
Report carlos monzon July 15, 2012 5:15 AM BST
Yeh his punch resistance is getting lower by the minute.

Think madaina pushed him to the limits

far to fragile to come back.

His only chance is Garcia. He should go for a rematch if he elects to box again.

Garcia is as easy as it gets.

Could a fight with Brrok be made??
Report smido25 July 15, 2012 5:18 AM BST
By no means sticking up for Khan. Not even a big fan of his. He got smashed up tonight, simple. Garcia is the second entrant of the evening to my vulnerable list. Not quite sure what or who will beat him but he aint all that and will be fancied by the UK bookies after that demolition job. Played the 'not to go the distance' by the way SJ. Was 10/11 with Hills and the Khan KO even money with most so no brainer for me.
Report ArmchairIdiot July 15, 2012 5:20 AM BST
I wish I'd seen those odds smido. Feel like a complete c unt now for backing Khan by KO. It was late and I was weary...
Report ArmchairIdiot July 15, 2012 5:22 AM BST
I really dont think Khan's a fighter. His motivation is the high-life, and he fights for that. But he's not an animal.
Report henry14 July 15, 2012 8:46 AM BST
Have to agree with Smido25, the positive to come from this fight is that will may get tasty odds on any garcia fights from now on. He is not the star sky tried to make him out to be after the fight

As for Khan, he seriously has to consider his future, Prescott knock out, war with madiana and peterson and now seriously hurt by Garcia. If he takes much more punishment he wont be able to fully enjoy all those millions he has made
Report Winner_Winner_Chicken_Diner July 15, 2012 10:39 AM BST
great fighter pure class but his days are numbered IMVHO ...

Time to wake up, he has far to many flaws to be considered a great boxer. Great fighters dont hit the floor at the first sign of a punch and they are definitely not finished at 25. He chased the money and dreams to quick imo. Of course, even if he took his time to get their he would still have not prevented his glass chin from shattering but he may have developed a bit more ringcraft by the time he got there.
Report smido25 July 15, 2012 11:05 AM BST
I wonder if the godlike Freddie Roach will be quiet again after this latest disaster. Said very little after the shocking performance against Peterson where Khan obv took no notice of the game plan. He was also quiet after the Pacman Marquez fight last year and says absolutely nothing about Chavez Jnr drug tests etc.
Report Jimmy Diamond July 15, 2012 11:06 AM BST
Khan should retire.

Destroyed by Prescott and Garcia.
Battered in the Peterson and Maidana fights
In trouble against feather fists Limmond and Gomez

A worrying pattern emerging here. Its becoming uncomfortable to watch and i honestly think Kenny Bayliss should have stopped the fight in round 3. Khan has a dangerously weak chin where his brain just seems to disengage when he gets tagged. The only way back i see for him now is a possible Malignaggi rematch (think Pauli's got a strap to take) and he's low risk also. He would get no respect for that though and i think Kell Brook is where he can get some credibility back were he to win.

Personally though i hope he calls it a day!
Report larrence July 15, 2012 11:23 AM BST
He should have stopped the fight in round 3, and they say he is a good ref.
Report GoldCupWinner July 15, 2012 11:26 AM BST
I like Khans attitude to taking fights and testing himself and wish more people had it. It's a pity he didn't turn out to be a great as we could have seen some monster fights.
Report Jimmy Diamond July 15, 2012 11:28 AM BST
i thought so Larrence too but Bayliss is a quality ref.

I think he probably gave Khan a chance to recover because it was the end of the round and he had previously recovered well against maidana.
Report larrence July 15, 2012 11:30 AM BST
agreedgoldcup, khan has amazing speed but he seems to throw to many shots inside instead of getting out and with that dodgy chin he will always be at risk. Saying that khan would not have touched mayweather.
Report neilwarnocksfalseteeth July 15, 2012 11:30 AM BST
i agree,he should have stopped it in round 3,just by looking at Khans face!He clearly didnt want to carry on!
Report larrence July 15, 2012 11:34 AM BST
yes jimmy i agree m8, the end of the round was the key point for the ref. He is a quality ref , i am being a bit harsh to him. gl....
Report Jimmy Diamond July 15, 2012 11:37 AM BST
im with you larrence that he should have probably stopped it end of round 3............ i just cant really be too harsh on Bayliss because he tends to know who he is refereeing so im think he probably considered Khans previous recovery powers and gave him the chance.

I would actually like to see danny garcia get trained by roach, i actually like the kid.
Report carlos monzon July 15, 2012 12:59 PM BST
Good boxer is khan,
fast hands,
good stamina,
alot of heart,
willing to fight any1 anytime,
okish power,
ring generalship not the best,
good recovery powers,

awful chin. Truly awful, nothing to do with heart, nothing at all wrong with khans bottle at all but his chin:

limond, gomez, Prescott, garcia, madaina all proved 1 thing.

My evaluation is no chin and phycially no strength.

Totaly unable to stand his ground in every fight his been in. Even wen barrera was p1ssing blood this kid couldn't even dream of coming on the front foot v an old barrera.

Yes jimmys right best chance is v malinagi. Khan can only beat the likes of malinagi. No power men
Report Footiefan111 July 15, 2012 1:24 PM BST
i think if he changed his boxing approach a bit and became more of a defensive fighter he still could have some good years in him instead of worrying about entertaining, he is a come forward fight but he aint got the chin for that approach.
Report in hell July 15, 2012 1:56 PM BST
His lack of power is his biggest weakness .

They just walk through his punches and eventually get on top of him
Report Kriskin July 15, 2012 2:11 PM BST
Khan's defense is poor.  Will always be wide open for a sucker punch.  I don't believe that left to the neck was anythiung special.  Khan can only box one way.  That one way is not good enough when stepping up in class.  Oncde again he was found wanting.
Report happyhamma July 15, 2012 8:50 PM BST
i couldn't believe he was backed so heavily with having what is known as a "glass chin".footiefan111 has it spot on,this guy is a class boxer, but not figher.defences need to be far superiour when his chin is such a burden

did you see the dig at Ariza from Khans new s + c guy post fight...

@AmirKingKhan will be back stronger than ever Can't wait for haters to eat their words He is a clean fighter I'm a clean coach unlike others

Allright it's just internet chatter but it does make you wonder. I for one thought Khans chin had improved enough on recent evidence to allow him to flurry his way through a moderate punching pedestrian like Garcia.

We'd be mightly naive to beilive it doesnt go on in Boxing when you look at RJJ Tarver Toney Mosley Peterson Berto to name a few and it just simply gets swept under the carpet.
I'll see how Khan's chin holds up next time out
Report PoleCatEddy July 19, 2012 2:40 PM BST
Clearly he doesn't have a remarkable chin. Sometimes you appear to get fighters who are often knocked down for flash knock downs but recover very quickly - Pernell Whittaker and Felix Trinidad are two I can think of off the top of my head. Trinidad in particular was very dangerous when hurt. Khan seemingly doesn't have a huge capacity to bounce back when hurt. But I don't think he's finished. Terry Norris, a great light middle weight without a great chin showed how a fighter can bounce back to win world titles again after a bad stoppage defeat. I would be very surprised if Khan doesn't win at least another world title at light welter or welter in the next 18 months. Although clearly he will have to be careful who he fights - older, slower fighters preferred. Danny Garcia's best avoided!

Report Ivy Tilsley July 19, 2012 11:07 PM BST
No chin, game up I'm afraid. As long as he gets tagged in fights, he's getting hurt.  He can improve his defense all he likes.  He can cruise through fights easily and no doubt win another world title, fact is he can never be trusted to make it to the final bell, irrelevant whether he's fighting a gomez or a mayweather.

the biggest myth is the weak chin imo.  his biggest problem without a doubt is his own total lack of punching power. he took so many off maidana and never went down and same with peterson. im not saying hes got a good chin but its not as bad as ppl make out. he just seems to have basically no core strenght and cant fight on the inside. guys walk im down now knowing full well there is nothing in his fists to trouble them
Report oliholt July 20, 2012 2:00 AM BST
i like everyone else also fink hes a wankka but imo he can quite easily win another world title. he would get beat by matthyse probly kod but there are fights out there 4 him still i mean it wudnt surprise me to see him fight junior witter next then beat mallignaggi for mallignaggis welterweight title.  like that ppl dnt rate garcia i have a feeling hes on the upgrade big time.
Report Duketurtle July 20, 2012 2:55 AM BST
See where you're coming from Oli, but having a daft world title doesn't make you world clas these days. Think the thread starter is suggesting he'll never be in line for a super fight with Floyd etc ever again
Report PoleCatEddy July 20, 2012 8:31 AM BST
I don't think fighting Paulie Malignaggi again would happen, because it would be such an obviously weak-ass move that he would generate a  mountain of criticism about protecting his chin by facing total non-punchers. I think he'll stay at light welter and face people along the lines of Humberto Soto (older, beatable) and Brandon Rios (up and coming but hittable). I agree with Duke - super fights are not realistic. But there is a world level that Khan can still operate in, with some care and luck.
Report PoleCatEddy July 20, 2012 8:38 AM BST
One of the things I think went wrong with Khan is tactically he made a terrible choice to not grab hold for dear life when tagged. In his mind there was that over-confidence in his punching power and he tried to bang his way out of trouble. I don't think Khan is really a big puncher, especially when he forces it and tries too hard. He needs a defensive overhaul to go with that reality check he just had.
