just back from this, what a disappointing night. Towers fight was farcical, Rhodes disappointing then just bad luck with the cut. Fair amount of mither in the crowd after aswell, Munroe fans at ringside charging across the cycle track and getting stuck into the Quigg followers in the stand...no need for it at all.

Here's the WBA's rules, they don't even have a Technical Draw as a ruling.
b) ACCIDENTAL BLOWS: If the referee sees, or after consulting with the doctor he concludes that a boxer has been injured in an accidental manner, and as a consequence of this wound, the boxer is not able to continue the fight, he shall IMMEDIATELY notify the Local Commission representatives, the fight supervisor who represents the World Boxing Association, and the judges of the fight, that the fight has ended. Should under the same circumstances (intentional unfair blow), the fight could be resumed the referee shall notified the above mentioned persons that the wound was produced by an accidental blow, for if the wound gets worse in subsequent rounds and the suspension of the fight would be deemed necessary, the decision to call shall be as follows:
NO DECISION: In case that both boxers are in a draw in the judges scorecards, or in case that no more than four (4) rounds have passed at the time he stopped the fight.
TECHNICAL DECISION: In favor of the boxer that is in advantage in the judges’ scorecards.

I had a bet on munroe to win with PP. To my amazement they said that as the official result was a technical draw, that a draw is their official result as well. I have forwarded the WBA rule to their customer services and they are now reviewing wether to overturn their result to NOCONTEST. fingers crossed and a big thankyou to Peter Rid for posting the rule

I'm not denying what the rules say, just that bookies will pay out on whatever the official decision is, right or wrong, if they change it all those people on the draw will be straight to IBAS, it's no different to trying them to get the first Dawson vs Hopkins fight changed before the commission stepped in.

You can't just go making the rules up as you go, the truth of the matter is the people who were paid out on the draw were wrongly paid out. The official decision will be changed to a No Decision when the incompetence of the BBBoC who was also a WBA official has been addressed.

any links to replays of this? Completely missed the punch that put rhodes down and wouldn't mind seeing the round where Towers was horizontal on the ropes again.
