6 weeks into the year and only AW racing so far of course but the GB leaders table includes some new names. My stats are purely based on flat winners with no bias from prize money or ratings.
Showcasing 16
Havana Grey 15
Mehmas 14
Kingman 12
Oasis Dream 12
Blue Point 12
Lope de Vega 10
Ardad 10
Cotai Glory 10.
Some of those have an elevated position because of one or two multiple winners but it will be interesting to see which ones keep their high position in the table. We would have been surprised to see Havana Grey and Mehmas in there 4 years ago. Meanwhile Oasis Dream is still having a great time at age 25!

Three for Showcasing today takes him to 23, A very good score for Feb 24.

close to the end of March and Showcasing still leads on GB flat wins this year with 31. Remarkable for a sire that has been around for such a long time but only now competing for top spot.

A burst of wins for Mehmas has taken him into a clear lead but Showcasing is still second. Blue Point and Havana Grey are tied for third.

Oasis Drem has been a favourite of mine for some time. An admirable stallion at a decent fee.

Mehmas now on 52 and in a clear lead. Havana Grey 41, Showcasing and Blue Point 40, Dark Angel 36 and Cotai Glory 31.

Mehmas continues to dominate the GB 2026 list with 83 wins and we are not yet half way through the calendar year. I am always cautious about sudden runs of winners by a sire as it could easily be coincidence but Space Blues with 12 so far in June is worth a look and even more Supremacy with 9 of his 2026 total of 11 wins in the current month! Can that just be coincidence?

july begins and in my experience there is a shift in flat racing as trainers who are keen to make an early impression start getting beaten by the handicapper and the canny older trainers start to take off the brakes from a few older horses.
Meanwhile the sire table at halfway is as follows; GB flat wins in 2026. Mehmas 90 Dark Angel 72 Havana Grey 68 Blue point 61 Cotai Glory 61 (already by far his best total) Sea The Stars 58. |

Mehmas reached 100 GB flat wins yesterday. On target for a record number if that pace is kept up.
