la pulga was a good bet yesterday, favourite in the race was raised 11 lbs for last win, meant to back that, got distracted at time, eased off in the evening on the betting, as dont really have fixed betting stakes,
when win few hundred, my betting can become over cautious, just not motivated to smash it.

Report sageform June 27, 2023 7:12 PM BST
Two more for Kodiac today makes 31 in GB in June with 3 days to go. Dark Angel who led comfortably at the end of May has just 10 in June which is a fair score but below par for him. Frankel has 18 in June and is moving up the table. He is of course well clear on prize money won.

Good battle in the first season sires championship this year with blue point and soldiers call, very close almost identical records so far,  don’t usually bother with those anymore. Not many new GB stallions this year, interesting, Betfair blocked my account for all of Tuesday, cost me lot of money in potential winners, they didn’t return all my stake after a race, very next race after I was going to put over 1200 on to win, cut the bet down to 175, cost me 1000 and all winners would of backed Tuesday, still haven’t returned the missing stake money , how can an error like that happen?
Report roadrunner46 June 29, 2023 4:28 PM BST
Didn’t see your thread on SJP race, thought the winners form just shaded the runners up form, A Balding had some good priced winners yesterday, I’m sure that made up for any losses on the above race.

Will have to write down my list in a few days, once RP update the records, 34 wins that is a smashing total, still very popular kodiac, relief rally was very unlucky at royal ascot, haven’t watched the race, was following that form, disappointed it didn’t win, wouldn’t of known if it was  good enough, sounds like it was. Just unlucky
Report roadrunner46 July 3, 2023 6:47 PM BST
As relief rally was unlucky at royal ascot and achieved a top speed of 99, would upgrade that to 100 TS and that makes that horse a potential group 1 sprinter, checked the records of group 1 sprinters in the last few years, a top speed of 100 as a 2yo was key indicator
Report roadrunner46 July 6, 2023 12:33 PM BST
Good winner yesterday for dandy man, couldn’t believe it when I read the profile, they had been running it over the wrong trip since 2021, remember the horse because I tipped it on here as a 2yo and it didn’t stay the 7f that day, although it was up against a good horse that day, missed it, wasn’t betting yesterday
Report sageform July 12, 2023 10:13 AM BST
The turnaround between the top 3 sires (on GB flat wins) since June 1 is very revealing as it suggests that on faster ground, Kodiac gets loads of winner while Dark Angel goes quiet. I know that is not a new concept but the data confirms it. Figures are for 2023 up to May 31, June 30 and July 11. Dandy Man seems less ground dependent.

Kodiac  49, 83, 91
Dark Angel 67, 78, 79.
Dandy Man  57.72,77.

Missed that kodiac debut winner on Monday, gladly ever after 15/2, only bet that jumped off the page that day, wasted 350 betting the favourite, knew it was a weak favourite, stress effectively limiting my decision making process, going to take a break from the forum, nothing worth reading on here 99% of time, keep looking on here every now and again, weather patterns have an effect, kodiac has some good horses and that helps

Contact solicitor in late April to get my inheritance, finally got that sorted, thinking about investing in a company, missed 85 on it a few months before, it was around 105 when I was thinking about putting 100k and had the money to invest and started reading some BS about its prospects, without the stress I can normally form my own opinion and see through BS, it’s 138 today and that would of been a good return for just a few months. Annoying few other companies that have made strong gains. Just wasnt paying attention too.

Kodiac is the first to sire 100 GB flat winners in 2023. I had Sixties Icon on 10 for July out of a total of 27 for the whole year so you are right to point out that he has been firing lately. Nothing so far in August. He does seem to produce late maturing staying types.

Definitely taking a break now from posting, have to win a big multiple, better off just concentrating on that, really good winners missed at goodwood, wasn’t able to do the form properly, start counting this month, see what patterns emerge, last month sea of stars wasn’t doing to good, on a Saturday came good 3 winners just before end of month

The real star of 2023 so far is Havana Grey. Only 2 crops of racing age but following the top 5 sires who are clear in my GB table, the next five are:
Sea The Stars 80, Frankel 79, Havana Grey 78 Mayson 78 and then a drop to Dubawi 67. Exalted company indeed. If HG keeps up the strike rate, he may get to 100 which no second season sire has done before. The record is Dubawi in 2010 with 93.

Blue Point is clear top of the newcomers with 39 GB wins so far in 2023 compared to Havana Grey's first season total of 54 and Harry Angel 30 so with 3 months left, Blue Point is right up there with the best from last year.

He certainly is a terrific stallion. He could go to the top if he gets the right support.
Report sageform November 7, 2023 8:23 AM GMT
He must already be getting support to get that many winners but he will probably always be a sprinter/miler sire. It will be the 2024 covering season that will determine how many really top mares are sent to him.
Report truehoncho November 7, 2023 2:46 PM GMT
Not sure about that Sage. I think if he got the mares he could get some decent 10f types.  I don't think he will attract those mares next year but if he can keep going at this rate he may in future.

Havana Ball finally brought up 100 for Havana Grey this evening. Quite a feat for a sire with just 2 crops of racing age. that puts him level in sixth place with Frankel! Kodiac now leads 0n 160 followed by a close battle between Dandy Man 133, Dark Angel 132, Lope De Vega 130 and Kingman 125 so exalted company for Havana Grey.
Report sageform January 1, 2024 7:29 PM GMT
Another year over and some comments on the GB flat sire table are in order. Firstly, the top 3 which are Kodiac on 168, Dark Angel 141 and Dandy Man on 137 are all mainly sprinter/miler sires although any sire can get the odd stayer. The real star in that category has been Havana Grey with 110 wins from 2 crops which I don't believe has ever been achieved before. The other sires above 100 are Kingman on 134, Lope De Vega on 133 and Frankel 105. Sea The Stars is the most prolific Derby winner with 98 while Dubawi saw a dramatic decline to 88 from 142 in 2022 and 155 in 2021.
It is worth asking some questions before taking the results at face value. The first three are older sires with many older horses still racing but in a close finish I would still take a Kodiac or a Dark Angel to prevail. Resolution is a big factor in lower class races. Of the "classic" sires, the racing owners and Stud owners are a factor. Juddmonte seem happy to let Kingman and Frankel cover very good mares from other owners but Godolphin tend to monopolise Dubawi which may explain why he had a relatively poor season along with Charlie Appleby. Lope de Vega is very consistent and versatile and benefits from standing at a commercial Stud. Havana Grey is a real outlier. He was not fashionably bred and stands at £55,000 at Whitsbury Manor so his results are really outstanding. It will be interesting to see what happens next year and in 2026 when 2yos from breeders who will have taken note of his early promise come into training.
Report roadrunner46 January 3, 2024 6:01 PM GMT
Dandy man RIP, you can thank dark angel for producing the dam of Havana grey, as added the top 3 from previous years first season and second season sires to my list, it was definitely a record breaking year with midweek result’s smashing the weekends amount of winners, trainers had an impact on those weekend results most notably Charlie Appleby, expect more of the same with midweek keeping up with the winners on the weekends this year

Happy new year best wishes for 2024

Report sageform January 11, 2024 9:46 AM GMT
Mehmas peaked in 2021 and has trended down in the last 2 years. My tip to move up a lot is Harry Angel. 30 in his first season and 66 last year so now with 3 crops he should get close to 100. Kingman had a very good year and on 134, he was not far off second place behind Kodiac.
Report roadrunner46 January 11, 2024 3:59 PM GMT
Mehmas only had 42 2yo’s running and just 17 wins in 2023, so with that in mind not unexpected didn’t do so well, that crop was 7500  stallion fee, this year should be much better horses, will be lot of competition for those 2 yo races this year, has been some good newcomers last few years, I’m confident, has same amount of money winners as last January on 4 now showing 13 points profit at spa’s, eventually he will have the numbers to challenge for top spot
Report roadrunner46 January 11, 2024 4:07 PM GMT
