What does that say about yearlings fetching £1m+? Do you have to win the Derby to be any value?

The chances of a colt sold as a yearling for £500k+ proving orth it are very low, unlike a filly which has can have residual value. Much better, in my opinion, is to buy 8 colts for the same money with the chance of one of them being well above average and recouping the outlay.
