time to start a new thread with a list of leading sires in GB (not Eire or Northern Ireland) based on total wins, not prize money.
Up to today the table is as follows:
Dark Angel 22. Already setting a strong pace.
Kingman 16. Emerging as a very good sire on AW as well as turf.
Exceed and Excel 14. Always gets away to a good AW start.
Lope de Vega. 13 Now established as a top and versatile sire.
Swiss Spirit. 12. steadily improving each year.
Kodiac and Acclamation 11 each. Both on the downward slide but still get winners.
Mehmas, Helmet and Showcasing 10 each. The new kids on the block are making an impact.

derby winners as sires in 2022 to date:
Sea The Stars 7 Had a great year in 2021 with 109 and has started OK.
Australia, Golden horn and New Approach 5
Sir Percy 4
Camelot and Galileo 0
It always baffles me why Galileo is so dominant in Ireland but so poor in GB apart from Irish runners. His progeny seldom race on AW but even including a whole turf season, he only produced 27 flat wins last year compared to 109 by Sea The Stars. I know the majority are trained by Coolmore but there are some in GB yards.

First day of turf and 2 top sires finally made it on to the GB scoresheet. Camelot was first to come to the party with Arthurs Realm who was his second win in 30 minutes following Living Legend at Kempton. Galileo also produced his first GB winner of 2022 with Pons Aelius at Wolverhampton. I know that two of those were on AW but I suspect that trainers don't get them ready in the winter months as the statistics show that both of those sires' progeny are much better on turf.

Dark Angel is still ahead but a much reduced margin to Kodiac then Kingman, Lope de Vega and Helmet.

Changes in the sire table as we see some good ground turf races. Dubawi has sired four 3yo winners at Newmarket in 3 days with possibly more to come. That moves him up to 8th place in the GB table with 17 winners this year. Dark Angel had a very quiet March but is still clear with 27.

Last week Dubawi (now up to 24) this week it is Frankel (16) after 1 yesterday and 2 so far today and more runners in the maiden at 4.10.

Dark Angel now 43 from Dubawi on 34 and Lope de Vega 33, Kingman 30, Dandy Man and Kodiac 27 and Frankel 25. Galileo has reached the dizzy heights of 9 after 4 O'Brien winners at Chester.

thanks
Galileo must be a bad stallion.
Really useful stuff

Not a question of good or bad, just about which stallions produce most winners in UK flat races. Very few GB trainers have any Galileo offspring these days. Unless Coolmore runs them over here, he would struggle to have 10 in a year.

good price winner for australia, just realized racing post tipped the winner, was the only filly in the race

Yet another nice 2yo win for Havana Grey. 12 wins already by May 19 is quite exceptional for a first season sire.

does sound very good, im away at the moment from the computer most of the time, my family will be sourcing a place for me to stay soon, harry angel has made a slow start so far, if there is a good one from that first crop, it will be in good hands.

Dubawi had a good week at Ascot but for the month as a whole, Dark Angel and Kodiac have been on fire. They both had 3 winners yesterday from only 21 races on the day while Kodiac just sired the first at Brighton. Dark Angel has 20 for June, Kodiac 18.

When: 16 Jul 22 09:07
Kodiac has continued in strong form so far in July with 17 wins in 15 days! Dark Angel has been quiet so far this month so they are now tied on 88 for the year. Dubawi still not far behind on 81.

Recon Mission is today's Kodiac winner after 2 yesterday. 21 GB wins for the month at one per day after 26 in June. Now 3 ahead of Dark Angel. I was wrong in the opening post that Kodiac was on the slide!

One more for Kodiac today so 28 from 27 days in July and 99 for the year so far. Could even get to 200 this year in GB alone.

Kodiac ended with 31 in July, one per day. 102 now for the year.

Kodiac now on 8 GB wins for August with Valdai at Leicester! Incredible strike rate of over one per day now for 38 days. 110 for the year.

Lope de Vega the fourth sire to get 100 GB wins in 2022 following Kodiac, Dark Angel and Dubawi. Dandy Man should be the next.

Last day for the Flat Jockeys champs but my GB sires list goes on until the year end. Kodiac 154, Dark Angel 148, Dubawi 127, Lope de Vega 107, Dandy Man 102, Frankel 88 is the current standing. Mayson with 81 is perhaps the most surprising among the high scores.

A double for Sir Percy today means that he moves to fourth in my list of GB wins in 2022 sired by Derby winners. Sea The Stars is way ahead with 85 from Golden Horn with 46, New Approach with 42 and Sir Percy now on 35.

Another year comes to a low key close on the flat. One more for Dark Angel brings about a dead heat with Kodiac on 170 GB flat wins in the calendar year. Dubawi third and Lope de Vega fourth. Off we go again tomorrow.

Fascinating Sage.
Both these sires are often bracketed together standing as they do with members of the same family, often with similar fee levels, similar modus operandi and covering similar mares at times. For them to dead heat seems a certain stability that in this industry doesn’t often occur!

Also for Dubawi one of the best of the bests to feature in your table is also a great feat. Classic mares, big money, cotton wool, all reasons you would think to keep him away from the numbers game.

Surprising that Frankel has dropped from 130 in 2021 to 97 in 2022 while Kingman continues to rise up my table albeit gradually. Some others of note are Showcasing who has taken a very early lead in 2023 with 4 in 4 days and Muharaar who managed 11 wins in December out of 250 flat races in total so over 4% of all winners were by Muharaar!. He seems to produce a lot of AW winners. Interesting to read my mistaken view back in March that Kodiac might be on the decline but he continues at the top after a slow start to 2022. Showcasing and Mehmas confirmed their early promise but Helmet fell away badly.

missed all of last seasons racing, so just catching up, helmet done very well considering it was down on numbers and australia the trend completely reversed and it continued downwards 100-23-36, not totally unexpected, havent had much time to take in all the figures, mehmas only had 26 - 2yo's last season, maybe lot were sold to race abroad, dont know.

A similar picture so far to last January. A run of winners has put Exceed and Excel on 10 GB flat wins already with Dark Angel on 9, Lope De Vega and Mayson on 6 and Dubawi on 5. Frankel has yet to have a winner!

As the turf season starts at Doncaster, the GB flat sire table to March 31 has Dark Angel in front on 31 from Exceed and Excel on 27, Lope de Vega on 24, Dandy Man and Mayson on 19, Kingman and Kodiac on 17. Dubawi (10) and Frankel (12) tend to be slow starters on AW but might get going from today.

very good afternoon for kodiac yesterday with 3 winners, usually gets off to a slow start, and one of them with group 1 form, if you count getting beat 7 lengths in a group 1 race, top apprentice in the saddle, unfortunately still trying to sort some accommodation, should be done very soon. than i can study the form and runners properly, very impressed with recent results in the last month, all looking good on that front.
