Has more than a squeak in the Albany. Overbury could be very busy next year.

I thought he went great guns early on and looked really good. He has slowed up a little but I was interested to hear if people think he has any sort of commercial future. I suppose he did what it said on the tin and provided very precocious 2yo's that did have some class. At a sensible price will his foals/yearlings be in demand for the next few years?

As the longer races for juveniles start to dominate the racing Ardad will obviously get less winners. He was very busy this year and will undoubtedly be so again because precocious and fast is what he produces - as to commercial that depends as usual on how good your mare's page is compared with all the others producing foals by him.

Thanks FT. I think he may end up with less winners than I thought he might. I thought he may do a little better in the early nurseries. I thought his colt could have won the Richmond on another day and may well give him another stakes winner before the end of the year. I'm not sure how many mares he got in his second season to keep the bandwagon rolling next year or if any of these 2yo's will train on for him. It will be interesting.

Well he did and he could win the Middle Park tomorrow. Good luck Overbury.

Perfect Power would be my choice this afternoon but Ardad is well behind Cotai Glory in terms of wins.

the books very generous drifting perfect power to 11/4, amazing how some of these run of the stallions can produce really good ones like perfect power, powerful running style that horse, make you very hopefull it will train on next year

Very cool ride by Soumillon. He looked like a 100/1 shot after 4 furlongs.

Yes it was Sageform. On top of that the horse looked quite unsettled through all of the preliminaries and not a typical Kodiac model. It could be argued he actually had a tiny bit of scope and it wouldn't be a shock to me if he trained on well. On that point the Kodi Bear colt was really nice looking and run well. Kodiak is looking promising (very?) as a sire of commercial sires.

Up to £12k. I think that's pretty fair. I think Showcasing went to £15k and I think I prefer this stallion.

That price doesn’t seem out of the way I agree truehonch.

I tend to let them get on with it in the ‘following year’ scuffle as I then will have a good look at the chances of following the upgraded book.

When you look at the nearly 300 mares that piled in to Mehmas - well if he has a blip that is a mighty lot of undesirable foals to be floating around. Indeed even if he doesn’t have a blip there will be a ton of people looking at a loss.

I like Tally ho but these fees need to be set to engender the correct demand to keep the numbers at a level that the market may take and that give the stallion a shot of longevity.

The sales have been so strong, persuading studs to take a long term view may be a struggle PotM. I agree about big books and you will need a decent foal to stand out in Ardad's crop of 2023. In honesty I never thought he was a particularly good looking Kodiac and not as strong as many. His Middle Park winner looked almost scopey when compared to typically good Kodiac's so it will be interesting to see how well his 3yo's go. Derrinstown seem to have thrown the towel in. It's tough at the top!!
