Is there any strong views on any of the value (ok cheaper) stallions available this year. I have took a chance on the Lightning Spear deal and hope his fertility hiccup is sorted. I couldn't justify any of the first seasoners for my mares (I did toy with Le Brivido). I did think about Rajasinge as he is a good type but Mayson could be got for good value for my unproven mare.

Wily, you do make me chuckle. Value the first two are but Truehoncho is after cheap value. Would never put anyone off Mayson as he upgrades his mares in my view, and have a healthy respect for Sir Percy. Has your Cracksman foal yet appeared? Truehoncho, has this mare any produce on the ground?

I think DD comes into the cheap bracket. I did consider him but he didn't really suit my mares and if I had a colt he would have been one of lots at the foal sales and I think I may have struggled to get my money back. Everyone seems to like Mayson and I have a lovely looking filly yearling by him. If he gets a decent winner this year his stock will be easy to sell. STM is for better mares than mine regardless of his price. You won't sell his stock out of moderate mares.

He's in Ireland, but surely Decorated Knight would be a steal at E9K? Even commercially his foals sold very well I believe.

I like DK but why would he be worth more than Lightening Spear (fertility issues aside)?.

At 3000 a shot, I would take a chance on Workforce who is at the Knockhouse Stud having started his stud career in Japan. There is life in the old dog yet at 13 and Northern Dancer figures prominently in pedigrees of both Street Sense and Workforce.
