Hi I am a 11.5 % shareholder in a five time winning mare class 3 win in January.she was took to Havana Grey unfortunately she did not get in foal.My mare is Made Of Honour trained by Karl Burke. My question is as I have no Knowledge of this king of thing will the full fee of £8000 be charged or is it normal to get a refund if the mare misses as the Stallion has many Mares in foal he is obviously well fertile. It would be no good getting a free mating next year as she is in the H I T sales in mid Jul at Tatteralls. She is a big good looking mare does any one have a realistic value of her.She is 5 years old by Casamento

First off you don't pay a stallion fee unless the mare scans in foal Oct 1st (Whitsbury's terms) so no money has changed hands nor will.  I'd say that mare is worth about 15-20k as breeding prospect but very looks & market dependent.  Family hasn't a tremendous amount going on - her 2yo brother looks poor but if it shows more then that might help.  Her not being in foal isn't great for that sale (unless she can still run)

Have you seen the terms / contract you agreed to, when agreeing to use the stallion, as this would state what happens.

I think when I went to Whitsbury one of the terms was the mare had to be presented 3 times to the stallion, in order to make sure she had every chance of getting in foal. She got in foal first time so it didn't matter.

If this has happened and she wasn't in foal then you should be fine. Like Yer Ma says I doubt they will charge a fee if you provide notification from a vet she is not in foal on the 1st October.
