Does anyone know how many G1 races have been won by offspring of Galileo - out of a Pivotal sired mare ? ...... a very successful cross.

None?
A serious answer is I keep a database of all Group 1,2,3 races in GB,IRE,FR,GER,ITY and USA Grade 1.
The database is only up to date to the end of 2015, but I did a bit of updating since.
Although I use the horse name to update the sire, dam, damsire of each winner I think that is only up to 2015.

I found no Group 1 winners with that combination but as said above the data is not up-to-date.

country........day....mth..year    race................................................ surface..course.......................name ..............................    dob    sex    age    years    type    rate_top    grade    mile    fur    yard
ENGLAND .... 03    05    2014    JOCKEY CLUB STAKES.................... TURF.......NEWMARKET............GOSPEL CHOIR ................    2009    M    5    4yo+    T.T    116    Group 2    1    4    0
ENGLAND .... 16    05    2014    YORKSHIRE CUP ........................... TURF.......YORK..........................GOSPEL CHOIR ................2009    M    5    4yo+    T.T    116    Group 2    1    6    0
IRELAND ..... 28    06    2013    IRISH INTERNATIONAL STAKES.....TURF.......THE CURRAGH............FLYING THE FLAG .............2010    M    3    3yo+    C.T    112    Group 3    1    1    0

A few with that pedigree combination in my data (26 horses)
ADELPHI; AN FEAR CIUIN; BENIGNUS; BOHERBUOY; BUONAROTTI; CLASSIC CODE; FLATTERING; FLYING THE FLAG; GOSPEL CHOIR; HANOVER STREET; HERMOSA; HYDRANGEA; JUST GORGEOUS;
LOVE POTION; MAD FOR ROAD; MAGICAL; ORDEROFTHEGARTER; PEACH TREE; RHODENDRON; SAMBA CHRYSS; SILVER GALAXY; SUNDARA; TAMARIND COVE; THE UNITES STATES; TORREY PINES; YAZDI

Is that a fantastic cross or is it a single sire and dam combination.
Galileo/Beauty Is Truth (6 horses) ............. ADELPHI; BUONAROTTI; HERMOSA; HYDRANGEA; THE UNITES STATES; TORREY PINES
Galileo/Halfway To Heaven (5 horses ) .... FLYING THE FLAG; HANOVER STREET; JUST GORGEOUS; MAGICAL; RHODENDRON
Galileo/Potion (4 horses ) ........................... AN FEAR CIUIN; BOHERBUOY; LOVE POTION; MAD FOR ROAD
Galileo/Saoire (4 horses ) ........................... BENIGNUS; CLASSIC CODE;  SUNDARA; TAMARIND COVE

You can put ratings to the above 6+5+4+4 and you will see that the first two (Beauty Is Truth / Halfway To Heaven) are better.

Galileo was rated 132
Beauty Is Truth was rated 117
Halfway To Heaven was rated 118

Is this a great cross, or are the good runners the expected offspring of a top rated sire and a top rated dam?

I suspect the question was provoked by the dual Classic success of Hermosa this year! When you update your database with that, Kincsem, would you draw the same conclusions?

I am working on updating pedigrees at present.

The pattern you see is probably just coincidence.
You need to find the reason.
The sample size is too small.

Google my thread "Taking The Plunge" "boards.ie" "Horse Racing"
and read posts #139, #140 for the pedigree ideas I follow.

Galileo's 71 European-bred G1 winners have come at a rate of 4.5% to runners, with his 178 Group winners at 11.3%.
When looking specifically with Pivotal mares it is 20% G1W/R and 36% GW/R! - As Kincsem pointed out, his five G1Ws (from 25 runners) have only come out of two high-performing dams, both on the tracks and in the sheds.
Is it just that Galileo performs exceptionally with great mares? Of the 12 mares to have produced a BT performer on this cross, all are out of Stakes-performing mares apart from one (Pikaboo, dam of G3W Flattering and Listed winner Peach Tree...AND she has already produced Lucky Kristale to Lucky Story!)
