Hi, Does anyone know which British reining monarch bred an ASCOT GOLD CUP winner. My feelings are it was either Queen Victoria or Edward V11. ?

Is this a trick question ? Edward V11 bred Persimmon the 1897 winner but not when he was a reigning monarch : he was Prince of Wales at the time.

Like you Sir Epicure I am very taken with Jack's cryptic post.

I love the "reining" pun and am also very taken with the reference to the Edward Vee-Eleven which is my favourite Bugatti of all time.

Anyhow, the "reigning" monarch associated with THIS YEAR's Ascot Gold Cup winner, Order Of St George (by Galileo), is Mr Harry KING of breeder Paget Bloodstock which I think is linked to Coolmore. Thank you.
