Seems like it was pretty much only the Maktoum family and their associates that used this fella last year (with one exception).
Just as well the Coolmore boys don't do the same with some of their top stallions....
Any thoughts about this or is it just a question of them keeping him all for themselves (I'm sure Sheikh Mo doesn't need the 70k or so a pop he costs for the pleasure)?

Personally I think they are doing the right thing. In my opinion he is the best stallion they have and could provide them with great racehorses and wonderful broodmares that will cross well with Dubawi. They wont find a better stallion outside of Coolmore, they have a lot of mares and as you say they don't need the money.
It is a line (GC) that Coolmore should try harder with in my opinion. Footstepsinthesand is an excellent stallion at £10k and I'm sure they could find a better one if they tried. |
