None that were outstanding but Azamour and Dalakhani are doing OK and the great strength of the AK stud is the mares.

Darshaan was the last decent AK stallion. Siyouni, who stands in France, could yet prove very useful.

Isn't it an interesting conundrum
The Aga Khan seems to exist to provide bloodlines for others to exploit! His stallions get plenty of chances as they don't really get moved on unless he has something obvious to replace them with. Because the bloodstock game is so much more about speed these days I think his position as it stands is untenable because by and large at middle distances, a speed horse that just about stays will beat a thorough stayer with no speed. I think he is aware that more speed is needed and Siyouni is going to be a great asset, and you do see his horses bred using slightly surprising speed types more often now. Unfortunately great breeder that he has been and great owner breeders that there still are, are all being usurped by the best breeders of the last 20 years, by a mile, and that I'm afraid ( well for the Gotchee at least) are the partners from Tiperarry. |

Agree with all of that Potm but will Coolmore be as dominant when Galileo is finished as a stallion? Their record with Galileo progeny in the last 5 years has been quite incredible and it will continue for a while yet.

They clearly try to breed stallions and retire everything at 3 to get them going as stallions. Maybe his daughter's comments some months ago criticising the commercial breeders may have something to do with it. Chevely Park maybe a better model for them to follow if they want stallions. Maybe they don't and lets be honest they probably don't need the money.

the retirement of zarkava was surely the worst decision any top owner has made...........she was a superstar and could have been a legend..........has she produced anything?
she beat goldikova in a hack canter..........thats how good she was |

he seems to take the long view - which with his wealth he can probably afford to - and appears happy to make use of the sires of the other big studs. coolmore are pure business - not interested in anything but making money - they've had an amazing time with sadlers well, danehill and galileo - but it looks possible the best son of galileo at stud will be found at juddmonte
