Im selling one that might make 1,200.   Might need to find a few quid to buy a replacement.   Quite fancy another filly or mare.

Anyone got any suggestions.

I hope you did alright Koo, it seems like a sellers sale these days to me. I have been a couple of years since I bought there last, 4years ago, and it is much more difficult than back then.
I was there yesterday and as I pulled one unpleasant horse out after another it was easy to see why a very healthy crowd was paying plenty for the few with a bit of style.
There were two nice young Shadwell mares with horrendous first covers but I thought that might hold them back and I could treat them as Maidens as they were early service dates. So did everyone else it seems

I wanted to buy lot 8 but my man got there a bit late sadly.  Would have gone a touch more than the 7500 she made and took her home.  These things happen tho
Will have a look at a few tomorrow but the way im punting lately I wont over doing any bidding.

lol PotM - I'd that lahqua down as £5k well spent on a long term project and your man goes to £15k.  Its a worry as you feel your own are worth a lot more but the darn things keep getting a year older.  Thought the two brightwalton ones were ok money but can't comment physically.   Something like lot76 Valen making £35k in foal to Garswood makes my head spin.

Sold one for £5,500 that I would have given away if he hadnt already been entered for the sales.  With the foreign market so strong its absolutely a sellers market.  I half fancied Heart Locket Lot.624 but was having a stinking day elsewhere and couldnt be bothered.   But everything i liked made alot more than I hoped for.

Did you see Valen yer ma?  she was problematical in front and it was an exact duplication of the problems that beset Garswood! Not my cup of tea for sure. I was there with friends and she wasn't on my list as I was looking at fillies but I saw a few pregnants with them. There were inconsistencies for sure but yesterday there were some nicer fillies than the first two days I thought. Once again though we were expected to part with a kings ransom. I think that on plenty of occasions fillies/mares are 2 or 3 fold what they were 4 years ago.
Whilst echoing your view that it isn't possible to replace like with like, when your mare has a few years on her and is only producing 60 raters then I can't really see what our alternatives are but to sacrifice some credentials at the outset.
At least with a new broom, we might start dreaming of sweeping up black type again!

It seems that everybody were after the same ones. I thought there were a few there that were cheap enough and bought a couple. They probably wouldn't be good enough for most on here but at least I will have something to throw my money away on next year.

I am certainly no expert and but it seems to me that anything under 15k and its just a roll of the dice anyway. I didn't see 1 covered mare that sold for any decent value.

I wanted lot 636, thought I had a chance, how wrong did I get that.

Well nanny, that depends on your budget!

She was a smart well put together mare but actually I thought a bit more smart than nice perhaps and I had her as a touch ordinary. I thought the pick of the ridiculous prices at Juddmonte was Isostatic. I always feel that particular family is a bit static itself and she was Champs Élysées plain albeit well put together. It seemed that we are so used to seeing boaty wonky fillies from Juddmonte that anything remotely correct was jumped on.
My favourite was Social for the record.

Truehonch, indeed, who the hell knows what represents a good buy right now. I  suppose we all hope to land a strong enough page that we might be able to make a few quid when we get nothing but fillies. But as you know a good colt particularly one by the right sire and your page is nearly always good enough.

As you say you are restocked to go again and a turnover of mares is never a bad idea whilst we all attempt to turn up the golden goose for an affordable price.
