A busy flat racing month but the same sires continue to do well. Exceed and Excel had the best month numerically but Invincible Spirit has had another Group 1 with Kingman and some useful juveniles while his son, Zebedee is having a great start from his first season crop.

Giantstepsahead was the 57th win for Footstepsinthesand this year. Why mention that you may ask? Well his total for the whole of 2013 was 57 so he is the first sire on my top twenty list to equal his total for last year. As October was his strongest month last year, there are likely to be plenty more to come.

August is the month for Acclamation to get lots of winners. He sired 25 GB wins in 2013 and has 18 so far this month. His son Dark Angel is also getting winners recently.

Acclamation reached 20 for the month in style with Mubtaghaa while the Kodiak fairy tale season was further enhanced by Tiggy Wiggy winning again.

It's just an observation but Footstepsinthesand is in the 3rd Division of the Coolmore Stallion roster yet he is the only one they have on the list. It is quiet remarkable considering all their stallions appear to cover a multitude of mares. Coolmore have an exceptional band of broodmares who can produce good horses from bad stallions. This gives the impression that the stallion is very good when in fact it is the mare who should be getting the credit. This is why breeders can't see the wood from the trees.

Don't forget that my list is GB only. If you include Ireland, Galileo would eb well up there. Absolutely So was yet another for Acclamation-why they all win in August is a mystery but they pay at the windows.

Invincible Spirit,Shamardal,Acclamation, Kodiac as well as Footstepsinthesand are all Irish based stallions. It appears from your list that, numerically, Footstepsinthesand is the only Coolmore sire who is making an impact in G.B. I think that is extraordinary considering each of their stallions cover hundreds of mares every year. What am I missing?

 , good info about that stallion , last few days some good winners. missed mubtaghaa, stupid really because a friend of mine had that in his to follows list, should of had that in the horse tracker, he picked that and the first 4 in its maiden race on the 10th may, was a speed figure race. |

Terror was yet another very impressive winner for Kodiak today If the placed horses are worth around 65, a 10 length win has to be worth 95 surely?

Fury had not won for a long time but he became the 100th GB winner for Invincible Spirit this year at Chepstow.

Footstepinthesand offspring tend to have a good turn of foot. The way turf races are run therefore play to the horses strengths in that the horse with the best finishing kick has a better chance of winning if well placed. Winning races is about having an x factor over your rivals not about absolute ability but racing merit.
