cost of stallions

i was wondering about the cost of buying a stallion (wondering not considering) i know a frankel or sea the stars is telephone numbers, what i was more interested in is your new bargain basement type, after reading with interest your views regarding affordable stallions 3-8k range say, i haven't seen any prices, maybe not looked enough, but it seems broodmares are at public auction, but these horses get retired to stud, then you see a stud fee, with no real idea what it costs to buy one
just interested, if anyone cares to give an insight
