You can't argue with the performances on the track as he was consistently top draw for the last 4 years.  However I agree with yer ma, the pedigree looks very ropey.  I've never seen him in the flesh mind you so if he's a looker then he's maybe worth a punt at the right price.  What he'll stand for I don't know - E6 - 8k maybe?  They do tend to price their stallions competitively at Tally Ho.

I'm saddened by the Sire he's replaced who at least bred winners (53% winners to runners in the uk) but if you're not popular then what can you do.

Anything that brings the elusive 'ma' out has to be considered exciting.

I think that all of us in this game are heavily reliant on gut reaction and instinct but perhaps wrongly sometimes as plenty of times when I don't know which way to swither and I actually sit down and do proper research I do make better decisions.

For now though I am quite up on Society Rock. He seems to be a wirey on the leg athletic type which can be tricky as we all know. But I am reminded of Red Clubs in that respect and that worked out okay. Couldn't be further away from him pedigree wise though and we are talking REALLY Northern Dancer heavy aren't we. Also, I think that temperament is a big issue. I think Key of Luck has got involved here and care is required.

He is out of a useful racemare and that brings me comfort when it comes to the disection of a pedigree. He's a proper racehorse out of a racehorse by a racehorse. I think that's the sort of parentage that can be trusted more than I would trust a weak overall page under normal circumstances.

Don't much care for R O G but he has enough moments and Mount Nelson has a few moments but is a totally different type anyway.

I don't actually have a mare for him and I am by no means Danzig top heavy, so perhaps others in the same boat might be his biggest barrier to the right patronage.

I too would e happy to use Kingman if he never won another race yer ma. Shadwell may be retiring Soft Falling Rain to the UK next year if he wins a group 1. Nice prospect but out of my range.

I think Coolmore often have types that could get mares at the £5k range over here but don't have an interest in pursuing that line. I don't think it would cut into their numbers in Ireland as I don't think many breeders send mares to Irelend for %k or less covers.

Horses like Reply could have found a berth if they had been less ambitious with him as a 3yo and just tried to pick up a soft G3 or a couple of listed wins. I can see Oklahoma City going the same way if he doesn't win today. Air Chief Marshal would have got plenty of mares over here as well, but I suppose their sights are set a lot higher unfortunately for us micro breeders.

It's good that you are well located to take on some extra curricular as these wheels frequently need some oiling don't they. We're only ever one ordinary filly away from a disaster

I am not sure Soft Falling Rain can get too spikey fee wise and I would certainly give him a look if he gets another high profile win and subsequently a berth.
Cheveley s usual horseboxes ramp shot, of Lethal Force was okay I thought but I imagine a tiny mare is not a good place to start with him. I really couldn't pay a fortune for the pedigree package though.
