well bred sire of Animal Kingdom. No fee set yet. I like him but don't think he'll be in my price bracket.

I'm going to have to do some homework on Leroidesanimeaux.

The pedigree certainly gives him a ton of scope over here but of course we have been here time and again with Miss Rausing bringing something with plenty of contrast to suit our brood mare population and finding that she seems to be the only one that really cares.

It is one thing to want another set of bloodlines at any cost and quite another to sell those genes to a public that doesn't think them coming in a good enough package.

Only homework will tell me which camp I find myself in with Leroy.

Truly left field addition.  Not sure who this would be aimed at - owner breeders I'd imagine but in that case his $25k US fee is way out of line.   US sales figures are ropy and thats after having a derby winner.  Candy Stripes other notable son - Invasor - can't give them away.

The purists will argue that in the last few years she's nobly tried to re-invigorate sire lines that are close to extinction with stallions such as With Approval (Caro), Vita Rosa (Halo) and now Leroidesanimaux (Blushing Groom).

The naysayers will tell you that commercially there's a good reason they've all but vanished.

Leroiseanimaux will not be a commercial stallion but might appeal to owner/breeders wishing to produce a Classic, distance horse.

if you can't produce 2yo's or Group middle distance horses at a decent rate then you fail no matter what the sire line. You have to be able to keep the nursery's and 0-60 sprint handicap's at Kempton and Wolves full for the most important people in the sport.

However you might want to use the likes of Leroiseanimaux if you are looking to breed a filly to keep and breed with. Blushing Groom features in some of the best thoroughbred pedigrees. But who's got time for that?

Well we're all singing from the same hymnsheet  here without a doubt.

I think to be honest Miss Rausing might be seen to be a visionary in the years to come as surely one of these days our thoroughbred population may be broke and the world and his wife will be looking for the way to fix it.
She is in advance of any such scenario by trying to bring in alternatives whilst there is still time.

If however Danzig over Danzig or Sadlers over Montjeu or Galileo say, turns out to be the most potent cross and Danehill over Taufan or Galileo over Candy Stripes is unsuccessfull then the fact is Joe commercial breeder or Jane Coolmore is going to still hurtle down that route to Armageddon and will only worry about how to deal with it when it arrives.

I wonder how her brood, are band will fare when it has been well and truely refreshed with her pet theories.

Maybe in 10 years she will be seen as the source for talent and soundness and everyone else is only breeding basket cases.
I won't begrudge her the success one jot. Although sour grapes won't prevent me from bringing up the matter of how the sale of a few milk cartons was somewhat convenient in funding her noble experiment!

Jim Bolger has run a few by him, the "next Teofilo" Glor Na Mara might jog a few memories

Post Glor Na Mara , heard a rumour that JSB was sending ten mares over Stateside to be covered by ''Leroy'' - not sure if that actually happened but insofar as he has trained for K Rausing in the past , I wouldnt be at all surprised if he had a hand in this stallions move to Newmarket ( maybe bought a significant share in him ? )

Another Derby winner added to the roster.

Looking at North Lights conformation coupled with his racing aptitude I would say he represents a very useful way into Rainbow Quest - if anyone should want that. . .

I imagine Prima Donna will have taken 10 norms already! Devil
