A few surprising (to some) stats. from farther down the league table. Once again bear in mind that these are GB wins in 2013 only.

Motivator  20
Nayef  19

you know whats interesting about mount nelson, the first crop are 3yos now, will be interested next season when they are 4yos
more stronger, learning about sires when they are just starting, see how the progeny develope, there hasnt been many winners
so far. see bertolini had a double yesterday, one was in the notebook amenable.
Report roadrunner46 August 6, 2013 7:12 PM BST
duke of marmalade another sire worthy of interest as well. should be a few winners to be found eventually i hope.
at moment doesnt have many runners, not really a negative, group 1 standard and prolific as a 4yo, might pass those
attributes to the progeny.

Though a few would appear to have valid reasons

Monsieur Bond a few crops with very few runners

New Approach not massive books, also not helped by the looney close down.

Rail Link lots run in France

Montjeu small crops duw to ill health

Motivator missed a year at stud.

another for mount nelson trucanni, see bertolini had a good winner today as well correggio.

these some other ones will be watching, winners(low) to wins(high) ratio

DUTCH ART/ELUSIVE CITY/COMPTON PLACE/HURRICAN RUN/TAGULA/AUSSIE RULES going on 2012 placings.

Eont, thanks for those useful contributions. I was just listing a group from the same alphabetical section of my spreadsheet. I admit that I don't always know why certain sires have poor seasons. I have noticed how few Montjeu 3yo's are racing here this year. The prolific winner producing sires do not correlate well with stud fees-that is my main point.
Report roadrunner46 August 8, 2013 2:34 PM BST
bertolini 1st and 2nd and the notebook amenable wins again. rock of gilbralter has been doing well, 4 wins in two days.
did have look bertolini was very good sire few years ago, suppose they all fall down the table eventually.

Montjeu small crops duw to ill health

78 foals in Montjeu’s 2008 crop.

Montjeu 76 foals 2009 and 68 for 2010. He covered 118 mares in 2010.

You have got to remember that he was covering top class mares so his performers this year are poor. Although he has had some top class performers, ( all out of top producing mares) in my opinion he was overrated............................................................ Don't get me going about his fillies.

Montjeu has produced a couple of minor winner this week and there are a few more entered. The problem for 12 furlong sires is the lack of races available for their progeny until they are 3 or even 4yo. Galileo is doing better but still gets few 2yo's over here. A quick look at my leading sires table shows that the ability to produce plenty of 2yo winners but also some class performers up to 10 furlongs is the ideal profile for success.

heavens edge(NB) was in good maiden race on 27 may at newbury. sire (royal applause) won yesterday at 12/1. whats the best website
for sires and progeny results and crops/ ect TIA. or is the racing post the best?
Report sageform August 9, 2013 1:06 PM BST
I use the Racing Post but I'm sure that there are others.

Acclamation is on a charge this month with 13 wins in 12 days taking him to 74. Cape Cross now 76, Invincible Spirit 78 and Oasis Dream 80.
Report sageform August 17, 2013 3:50 PM BST
Purcell was the 18th winner for Acclamation in 17 days of August-remarkable strike rate .
Report truehoncho August 18, 2013 8:10 PM BST
not much difference between Kyllachy and his sire at the moment very close in terms of all indicators. Pivotal £35k more than Kyllachy, can this last?
Report sageform August 21, 2013 5:03 PM BST
Bahamian Bounty has been just out of the top 10 so far but a first and last race double at York plus another at Musselburgh moved him on to 60 for the year. Bogart could move on to better things on fast ground after winning a handicap off 97.
Report roadrunner46 August 23, 2013 11:46 AM BST
bogart dropped down the weights, BB gets some very good horses. green howard was good winner from a formbook angle, had beaten
the lincoln winner in the past levitate, top form.will check all those horses, had already came to my attention sleeping indian
up about 58 points the last 2 weeks.

Montjeu and Galileo are not going to have amazing stats in England because the majority run in Ireland and you also have a high percentage going to the powerful owners breeders in France.
With Godolphin, Shadwell, Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum and Rabbah all not using the two sires you can strike off some high percentage of 2-3 year old in the UK and their offspring been priced out of the market to the majority of owners in the UK how can they? How many Galileos has Hannon trained?

Montjeu is well over rated alright sired 4 UK derby winners, 35 individual Group 1 winners, had 15 Group winners in 2011 and Europes highest ever money earner.

He has some exciting 2 year olds for AOB and Fabre in France this year, I wouldnt be surprised if he has two Group one winning two years olds this year
