I thought that was a promising debut from Limegrove (appeared unfancied in a race won by her better-fancied stablemate) on Saturday evening, appears to have a bit of size about her, and she hit the line well.

3 winners in 2 days. Wee Jean may be above average. Can he make it?

That's the 64,000 dollar question truehoncho can he make it.But he's certainly not dead in the water yet, which is about as much as we could hope for at this time of year.Of stallion sons of Oasis Dream to date he is doing the best despite being the cheapest along with the poorest books. But no-one can deny he has got a smart classy page.Aqlaam has not surprised me at all with his failure to produce a winner yet,is it any wonder that an unsound close relation of a staying cup horse who himself peaked as an older horse has failed to get precocious stock? Not to me......And Naaqoos nice looking classy precocious colt but who's page is very weak with more than a hint of 'dual purpose'about it.Anyone else think the mighty Oasis Dream needs to turn it on a bit for one standing at 65k when his current crop of 2 y'olds were conceived? Will his lack of a star 2 y'old from his expensive 2011 crop coupled with the slow start for his sons temper the enthusiasm for his next wave of sons Approve,Arcano and Showcasing?

Well there you are Prima, you have a b1tch about Aqlaam and lo, he has a winner.
One hell of a big coal face he's still facing mind. I think Capt Gerard is doing okay and I think that will be enough to sustain the chances of his next few fast sons but I think Oasis Dream is due a big review of his stallion career. Rather like Acclamation I think. Wentworth today must have sealed the lid on Coolmore's interest in that one so I think we perhaps need a third or so off both those fees for 2014. |

Well CG hits double figures today and Wee Jean looks like she could get some black type (providing a-MC hasn't galloped her into the ground and b- he places her a bit more sympathetically than he did today)
Will this be enough to get him 60 or 70 mares next year? He's in a very tough market but at £3k or less is he fair value? I like his pedigree. With plenty of Northern Dancer he gives you a chance inbreed on the cheap if you fancy that sort of thing. |
