Is there any possibility that what they have achieved is the greatest triumph in the wide wide world of sports...? Didn't Sangster formally concede defeat to "the Arabs"? So how did they do it? Is it all down to Sadler's Wells? Or has Irish "nous" really defeated the rampant power of raw money? Excited

What an intersting question velasquez, and one that I am not qualified to answer!

I would have thought that the key markers for them would include the re-syndication of Be My Guest when he had such a terrific (sadly not maintained) start at stud. The massive increase in their book sizes. The Shuttle concept. Sadlers and Danehill.

They have sailed close to the wind on so many occasions and so many of their initiatives have been seen as definitely 'not Tennis' too. However they have been the movers and shapers in this game for as long as I can remember. The fact is, the appeal of this game is trying to 'beat the book'  and that is why it attracts the players it does as any ammount of money can be thrown around but success can not necessarily be bought.

Perhaps the above initiatives enabled them to establish one hell of a war chest and at the helm is one hell of a warrior when it comes to deploying it.

They were smart enough to professionally market and advertise their sires.  Their use of print media is excellent.  And quick to drop stallions that were not selling.
