biased as was my favourite horse but with 4 group 1 wins you would have thought juddmonte would have kept him ? as opposed to bated breath who couldnt win a group 1 and now stands at £8,000 ? do you think a sprinter was more attractive to their portfolio of sires? feel very disappointed as i guess we wont see any of twice overs progeny now , unless juddmonte send a couple over for sentimental reasons but i doubt it :-(

what sort of fee could he expect to get over there? surely he would have got at least one good book over here if he was priced right? at least over here they have the NH option if they dont make it.

Sadly the best place for him,could never be remotely commercial even if he stood for free.At the very best for him a NH sire over here or the UK.

Fantasticly tough and consistent racehorse but he suffers from having a sire, Observatory, who was also a good performer on track but very poor as a sire. He has size and scope though so if he is cheap, he would be worth sending a mare to.

If you do send one sageform,start now on negotiating your transport costs,I feel sure it would be far more than his fee,each to their own I guess!

As I no longer have any mares, I am talking hypothetically. If I had a mare in SA I would definitely be tempted.

Another interesting import to SA, Oratorio is also going to be there next year. I have a couple of mares out there, I would be interested to hear any views on the ideal kind of mare for either stallion.

intergoal, I never used Oratorio but he was a body type to suit mares at either end of the spectrum perhaps. I wouldn't worry about using him on mares sharp or stout as he got plenty of speedy types with the right mares. He wasn't a disaster up here and I think he is a nice prospect for you guys.
I'd send Twice Over a fast mare at your peril. He was a great big rangy staying type who came to hand earlier than you would expect so it might be worth trying to sharpen him up a little bit but he is too typey to try and make too many changes I think. If he gets the right mares he has lots to recommend him but he just couldn't be expected to fit our market up here. |

A bit of artistic license I suppose, these new stallions are seldom undersold. I have two mares in SA, neither would suit Twice Over but I might be in the market for another mare early next year and if the fee is reasonable he could be worth a punt. The Cape Town version of the Breeze Up sale is in a couple of weeks, some interesting lots, including some by familiar names. One that catches my eye is Antonius Pius, I know he has had runners in Europe and Australia, nothing extraordinary so far, I just wonder if anyone has experience with him.
