In Ireland. What do we make of that then?

Well I've sort of been waiting for this years Hannon 2yo to announce his swan song. It's becoming a bit of a pattern is it not for one or two of his type to take this route. Any news JM as to a specific problem or is it just taking the money and running?
Report Johnny_Mustang November 6, 2012 12:41 PM GMT
Wouldn't like to comment on any problem at the moment but I'm sure it's a win/win situation for both parties. I understand he'll be in the region of 5K.

Well Morristown Lattin (Dark Angel), Tally Ho (Zeberdee), Rathasker (Fast Company) & Rathbarry (Lilbourne Lad) have this type already, by process of elimination I'd say Ballyhane.

Not Ballyhane PP, they've just taken delivery of a son of Redoute's Choice.

I'm sure it's a win situation for Mr Tinkler - and it's always a win situation for Mr Doyle Angry - but is it a win situation for (Tally Ho?).

It's one thing going down this route with an Invincible Spirit/Oasis Dream. . .

I think the whole process pretty much stinks, as I've ranted on about before, and to attempt it with an unproven sire from an unliked sireline seems to be a leap too far.

I'm preparing to be wrong again though!

Couldn't agree more PotM. I'm now just waiting for a son of Sixties Icon to be retired for next year.....

OOH, Dreamy, I can't wait I'll be in with a block booking. . . .

A Few on here seem to reserve their new sire roth for UK studs but the Irish are pulling some inexplicable ones out this year.  Tamayuz, flying childers! Amusing to me that the horse he beat on his biggest day (bungleinthejungle) is WAY more attractive sire prospect but they've not the brass neck.  I look forward to them selling like hot cakes to the right faces ;)

I remember discussing on here whether Born To Sea had the potential to be a stallion and where he might end up. After the recent spate of retirees he'd be like bloody Galileo himself in comparison.

And why not Society Rock? Plenty to worry about, especially as I haven't seen him, but at least he has had a career as a racehorse. And isn't that supposed to be what it's all about?

this much choice ... will drive me to the devil you know proven sires

Agree with much of whats been said on here about SP. I do however think his sire is decent and a decent outcross for Danzig and Sadler's Wells lines (amoung others). I think at his fee he is one of the few with quality and the potential to get good stock and his sales figures are decent enough. Maybe one of the few that are commercial and bring a bit of quality to your mares.

Whoever stands him, deserves everything they get.Just when we seem to be getting control of the numbers of poor horses in training, another 60 or so will join them in 2016.

Has the horse actually retired or does he go to stud at the end of next year ?
Report Eont November 7, 2012 9:32 AM GMT
I sthis not the time for the Irish National Stud with the TBA's of Britain and Ireland to start a use proven rachorse campaign.

Something along the lines of the RP bonus but for horses that have used a sire who may have run 15+ times (think Famous Name.)

It would never happen. Although in Germany, and Turkey of all places, I'm pretty sure they have very stringent views on suitability of racehorses going to stud in terms of race record and soundness issues. And critics of such an idea would point out that horses such as Danzig (injury ended career after 3 starts) and Fairy King (1 start) did the breed no harm. Although long after we're all gone, I can't quite see breeders in 30 years time fighting over themselves for horses with a double strain of Zeberdee, Lilbourne Lad or heavens above, Sir Prancealot in their pedigrees.

theres always Doncaster Rover
Report jmc27 November 9, 2012 9:56 PM GMT
....and Danzig never even raced in stakes company Laugh

I think this is madness tho and I would have though Tinkler would have been an owner that would like to see his horses race on especially ones of this standard
