I heard from someone who heard from someone that the lads were about to announce a new sprint stallion. If this isn't Power (which is dont think it is) and Casper Netcher (seems unlikely), any possibility it would be Foxwedge. Who I hear you say...Grp1 winning sprint sun of uber stallion Fastnet Rock. Too interesting to happen probably!

 I think they would be mad to stand a son of Fastnet Rock up here right now. They are piling in some very nice mares from clients to the horse himself and relieving them of much cash in the process. With the hemispherial (yes yer ma that must be a word!) mismatch always a possibility I think they should be hedging their bets on that front rather than risk a double disaster. Like the Whitsbury and Highclere conundrums I remain on the edge of my seat! |

You are almost certainly right but I would personally jump at the chance sub 10k - this horse would have eaten the likes of Mayson / Society Rock / Bated Breath, is a terrific specimen (500k yearling) and has a strong US pedigree and serious stallion behind it.

I doubt Coolmore would buy into Foxwedge. Surely better opportunities for a son of Fastnet Rock are on the horizon.
He is a good class colt, that caught the far superior Hay List, on an off night, when he won his group one. In class he would rank about 7 lengths behind Black Caviar, 4 behind Hay List and a couple behind Ortensia. As a two year old, he was at least 3 lengths inferior to Smart Missile, another FR colt. Also Pot M, I can't see how FR can miss in Europe, it's not as if he is from obscure Southern Hemisphere sireline. |

I bow to others knowledge of Aus form, however he is the highest ever rated son of FR and a looker. They are probably only a few years away from finding a 'homebred' son to win a european group / classic so again makes a shuttle unlikely.

FR is now servicing the very best mares in Aust and NZ, plus the top class mares he will cover in Europe, says to me, his best sons, haven't hit the racetrack as yet. |

I wouldn't pretend to know what stallion Coolmore are planning to stand but surely they must be looking for something different to their Danehill dominated roster?
Their stallions are not great value at the moment in my opinion. Their Saddlers Wells line is expensive and other than G himself all very unproven. |

Power will be mega-popular in my eyes, provided he's not pitched too high. Will be using him.
interesting article in the RP yesterday on how much more superior the Aus sprinters are to the Europeans. Surely there is plenty of scope to take advantage or are we that blinkered? |

Didn't know much about him. But the more I read, the more I am amazed Coolmore didnt snap him up as a cheaper alternative to Fastnet.

Think Whitsbury have done well. I was told that their new horse would surprise everybody and I think they've probably achieved that. Quite what your mare owner in in Dorset makes of him.......

I'd agree with Pot M's point Foxwedge could quickly become quite cold if Fastnet Rock doesn't do it.fastnet Rock has had every chance with the level of mares he's had but if he can't deliver then who'd really want young Foxwedge then?

Seen that he stands for $33000 in oz, so think that's a little optimisitic yer ma! Only rated 1 pound behind Sepoy and he is $66,000!
slightly dissapointed Helmet not going to be in Newmarket as was a very good horse who i might have been able to afford. Sepoy will be out of range for me no doubt. |

I've been told to ignore the north vs south fees on here before. At 6-8k he's a good bet, more and I think they risk alienating their repeat customers. Not even sure they have had a 10k stallion before and certainly not for a horse most people hadnt even heard of before.
