I know I am the world's Nambiest Pamby when it comes to Shuttlers but did anyone else think a 70k euro fee was a little eyebrow raising.

My initial reaction at him making the trip was very favourable and I have just the mare to book. However those regulars on here who bother reading my useless posts will also know that I'm not in that league.

I know, I know, I'm always spouting on about shuttlers compiling very different results in each hemisphere so does anyone think he is a sound choice to be as good up here as that fee suggests?

Hello PotM - hope summer has treated you & your stock well.  The lads will be buying them up for big bucks BUT are you a known face?  If not and its not a cracking (colt) then its a long way down for 70k.  Same goes for Dubawi or Sharmadal imo.  Thats said if I'd a Grp 1/2 mare or producer then I'd have much more confidence (what am I saying..I'd have flogged it and let someone else sign £100k nom agreements)

Hi yer ma. My summer has involved carting too much indifferent hay watching a LOT of olympics and a bit of  holidays.

I think the horses are okay but I really do go onto automatic pilot and take a step back and when things are a bit indifferent it can be quite difficult to step back in!

The yearling sales concentrate the mind though and as one of the foals I sold last year has made a bit of money for it's pinhookers I feel a bit happier as it is nice when they make some improvement.

A long way down indeed from 70k for R C. It will be interesting if there are bigger hitters on here than me - every possibility methinksWink - and what they think.

How is your horse (a Store, if I remember) that tried to kill itself earlier in the year? Has it gone the right way?

Oh hes nearly fit to go out (pointer not store - prob retired).  Replaced by other injuries, including just other day a nice filly done a leg after 4 races...3 of which she won! - its a cruel game.  We got a decent profit for a pinhooker at donny too and have a nice brother to sell.  Dont think ours are as forward this year tho..too little sun, too much rain, poor grass.

Bit alarmed by paucity of options for next year...lots of dodgy profiles at too high prices and no interesting new speed at 4-8k.  Might have to reconsider a few...even likes of Elnadim - check out his stats (sales and racing) makes interesting recent reading.

That's good news. Hopefully his next career move will be not too problematical if it's time for a rethink. Atleast your filly did her leg post a winning record, not pre! Small mercies and all that Sad

I haven't got round to thinking about many options for next year, but I've got a new toy so I'm really pleased to think about mating something new for a change. I am sure that it's because nothing new is obviously floating around that my creative juices aren't flowing as it's just a case of leafing through the old familiars isn't it. As I said elsewhere, i am going to be looking to try an angle on the sires who are due an 'up' because of upgraded books following a good start. I think that might be the only chance this time. There are certainly some pretty fancy fee drops due this time, particularly in the 20-60k range.

I know Elnadim is solid - just have a problem with the expense involved for a trip - but he stacks up well feewise  against many that are no better.
