Bonnie Brae was an impressive winner of the Bunbury cup today and the Mujahid mares has an interesting pedigree ,
without wishing to make a fool of myself have many fillies/mares won the Bunbury cup and did they go on to produce anything of note ?

I suspect that this sort of info isn't going to be readily available tudor minstrel.

Without doubt, the Bunbury Cup will have produced some good broodmares as these historical handicaps in the past have contained some top horses. It is only relatively recently that the Pattern has become the main focus for a good horse.

Yes potential fair point and without wishing to become a total anorak Bonnie Brae was the only filly or mare in this seasons Hunt cup and she was the only representative of her sex in the Bunbury cup so maybe female victors are not that common in these historical handicaps?

Very few female winners of the Bunbury cup since the 60s - not a race I'd be fussed about if I'd a decent filly.  Probably circumstances (older mare, moderately bred, likes bigger fields, etc) conspired in favour here.  Cant argue with another 30k but particularly this season there seem to be lots of very average black type getting mares / fillies, so you'd be aghast if she didnt get some by the end of the year.

yer ma, How did your horse get on following it's contretemps with the fence?

Was it a good outcome?

Still daily dressing and then a cast.  Positive prognosis but going to have to win a good few p-t-p's to cover the expense (not mine for once).  Him plus the rain forcing some mares & foals inside is denying us our 'quiet time' of the year and indeed an early delivery of 2k of hay!

I'm glad he's heading in the right direction and I have deep and knowledgable sympathy for your plight over the work you could do without right now!

I too 'need' this time of the year to be uneventful and I am just about getting away with it as they are all still out. What the hell we are going to feed them over the winter though is anybody's guess.

I shall root for your crappy summer to be reversed significantly come December!!
