) on here can be a little too pedantic at times and I certainly wouldn't write off a soft ground performer with no other faults. Fact is, a good horse will have form on faster ground too and if he is proven with a ton of high class winners - Pivotal, Selkirk and Danehill Dancer are all sires whose stock can need soft - then you have to take notice. If a proven sire gets to the end of the season with a good year of results then the fact that they might have been soft ground doesn't get them removed from the record or cancel them in the mind of investors.
