Canford 17.5K, Pour Moi 20K

Canford is very handsome, but pretty tall and angular, will he definitely get 2yo's, he is the second best miler I've ever seen and I just wonder that the way he went off the boil a bit after the Coventry might mean he wasn't the ready prococious 2yo everydody thought, Brilliant horse though.

I've no strong oppinion on Pour Moi, except that I gather he is a little more blocky/ barrelly than a typical Montjeu.

I think perhaps Montjeu standing this year for 75k is a sign that connections were disappointed with the 3 y'old results of 'wonder horse'St Nicholas Abbey.After all the hype that went with him prior to his run in the 2000 only to be left with a tarnished reputation,and for Montjeu himself the stallions limitations exposed as much was made at the time that he was unable to get a GR1 3 y'old miler the sorts the commercial markets wanted,hence the 75k fee.
However now after the great year Montjeu has had showing just how versatile he is including getting high class fillies at 2 and 3 years he has once again gone 'private'.
I only hope connections wont make the same mistake made with St.Nicholas Abbey with Camelot not by running him at NMKT in the GNS as I think they will,but by OVER TRAINING him I can't help but feel without the continued pressure being applied to St.Nic Coolmore wanting that elusive GNS winner who poss' may of gone on to a TC tilt thus gold plating Montjeu as a sire (I know it was spoken of)'he could of been a much better horse than we all could see at HQ as what's obvious he'd had enough..........the greatest trainer...........
Even the greatest trainer together with hungry for success owners can make mistakes,doubt they will do the same again next time and next time will be May 2012,they have nothing to lose everything to gain.
