How did Coolmore acquire Pour Moi?

Either they own or part own the mare or the offspring are foal shares (given they all appear to be coolmore).  They all use Fabre, he's the master.

They buy plenty privately George B. But as yer ma says, a lot of Galileos and Montjeus particularly are bred on foal shares so chances are they were just buying the partners out with Pour Moi. It's up to the mare owner usually to decide how best to market the joint progeny though.

I really like the horse in his picture. Doesn't seem too skanky backward to me and reminds me of a lot of Sadlers good bits. Anyone seen him yet?

Thanks for the replies. Just wondered how Magnier had paid 900,000 for one sibling yet there was no record of him having bought the previous one he owns.

I agree, Fabre is a master, just couldn't recall too many he'd trained for Magnier, especially since Sheikh Mo took over ownership of his stables!

Good shout, SD. I must admit, I wouldn't know how many Coolmore have with Fabre, nor how many with John Hammond, who of course trained Montjeu for them.

Pour Moi was bred by Paul Shananhan who is one of the Coolmore gang. He is Lynch Bages. Fabre trained his 3/4 sister Gagnoa who was bred by Quay Bloodstock who is a Tabor breeding arm of Coolmore. Gwynn had 6 foals. Fabre has trained plenty of horses for Tabor and Magnier after the Hurricane Run deal, one of the deals he made with the Shiekh was he was allowed to still train for others, hope this helps :)

Thanks for your background jmc27. I for one didn't realise that Shanahan was Lynch Bages. Do we know if he has a connection with the Vineyard of the same name? It seems an odd choice if he doesn't.

I saw Kissed maiden in reallly bad ground at Navan, she really ploughed through it, looks a great prospect, they've some collection of fillies for next year

Thank you, jmc27. I knew about the Shanahan link and had posted that he's regarded as Magnier's "right hand man" on the thread about this on the HR forum (this query came about because someone asked what Danedream, Pour Moi and Frankel had sold for as yearlings).

I was also aware that Shanahan's LB Ltd had bred both Pour Moi and Kissed to Coolmore stallions. What I couldn't figure out was why one 3-parts sibling was seemingly already owned by Magnier and no sale had been registered, and then he went and paid 900,000 for other sibling from the same source ie LB Ltd.

Presumably, it's as PM said and it was done on foal shares.

why did they switch ownership of warwick avenue from tabor to magnier before it had raced?

MM They do that all the time, all I can think is it has to be some grey area tax reason but Im only guessing that. Thats not what I was on about tho

George B, if Pour Moi looked like the second coming as a yearling then whether Coolmore owned 1/2 of him at birth or Shanahan owned the lot probably had no bearing on the fact that Coolmore would have been pretty keen to secure him, safely away from the Auction ring and unwanted outside bidders. Obviously it makes it a bit difficult for both parties to effectively value a horse at a sum both are happy with but there are always favours owing from one party to another - especially with these guys!

Kissed on the other hand perhaps always looked terrific but as a filly wasn't so crucial to the programme so maybe that's why she was allowed to take her chance in the ring to try and sell for big bucks for whomever. She was almost certainly owned, part or otherwise, by Coolmore before she went through the ring but whilst they had a big wodge of commission to pay if they didn't get their valuation for her, they also had a big fat auction price to help in the promotion of an incredibly expensive stallion.

I imagine that when ownership of a mare and stallion nomination are so closely aligned there is scope for an agreement to publicly auction one year and privately agree the next, year on year, even.

You'll never 2nd guess them, but there's any ammount of reasons why they do what they do.

As Kissed crossed the line in Navan her full sister was gearing up to walk through the Tatts ring and 45mins later she did and was that days session topper at 800k everyones a winner in the circle

Just saying that I don't think Montjeu has had a successful son at stud yet, at some point will this begin to count against him. He has gotten plenty of fantastic track runners, but none of them have done anything in their collective second careers.

Neill infairness unless Im wrong off the top of my head all you can base that on is Motivator who has fertility problems, Hurricane Run who is only had his first batch of three years old run and Authorized who has had his first group of two year olds run.  Now im not saying your wrong but its very hard to say that with so little evidence. Only a few weeks ago we all were saying he couldnt sire a decent filly and then well the less said the better :p

Yep that is fair I suppose jmc, I think I might have it in my head that he has been around a bit longer than he actually has been.
